btw, the iranian president was an active participant in the 79-81 marines hostage taking
as usual these brittish soldiers being kidnapped must be the americans fault

1st: there is an upcoming presidential election in the USA.
democrats controls the senate. No, it can't happens, they won't allow it. Especially with the financial situation of the USA's government. 2nd: they do not have the military power to invade Iran. Maybe to bomb it a few time, but not to invade. They can't even control Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran is much bigger and much populous than both countries. No, it won't happen. They maybe are looking to have an international strick from the NATO, but even there, I don't think this will ever happen.

Congress does not get to make snap decisions, nor do they control the troops.
The commander in chief decides where the troops go and that's Bush. Congress assigns and approves funding. It is 100% in bush's legal power to order an attack on Iran. Update » neoform wrote on Mon Mar 26, 2007 @ 6:15pm btw
The British: Yesterday, the former First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Alan West, said British rules of engagement were "very much de-escalatory, because we don't want wars starting ... Rather than roaring into action and sinking everything in sight we try to step back and that, of course, is why our chaps were, in effect, able to be captured and taken away."
The Americans: Our boarding team's training is a little bit more towards self-preservation." The unique US Navy rules of engagement say we not only have a right to self-defence but also an obligation to self-defence. They [the British] had every right in my mind and every justification to defend themselves rather than allow themselves to be taken. Our reaction was, 'Why didn't your guys defend themselves?'"
For those who don't think this could turn into a war.. Ask yourself this: Had those sailors been american and not british.. where do you think we'd be right now?

The US wasn't looking to attack Iran (yet) in 2004. If Iran doesn't release them, I can see the US touting this as proving the Iranian threat that *must* be solved.. etc. not to mention that 2004 was a US election year...

no doubt, you could show pictures of all the inner city ghettos in the USA and say it is a ghetto country. Or you could show pictures of only the rich and call it a rich country.
The USA could afford to blow up any country they wanted, but they can barely afford to rebuild and maintain two nations at the moment. It took them days to take over Iraq, but keeping it is proving to be very expensive.

Why cant both countries hire g33ks and have them make war VIA Counterstrike?
Would be less Expensive! xD

^^ I've always thought of something similar that would be the best/safest way to go to war, would be to have millions of robot drones that are controlled by people.. As soon as it's taken out, you "respawn" into a new drone to controll.
It would be cool! | |

Might suck if the robot drones start fighting in your neighborhood. I'm all for the Counterstrike tournament idea, however.
[ en.wikipedia.org ] Coubertin also sought a way to bring nations closer together, to have the youth of the world compete in sports, rather than fight in war.

the iranian people are not the problem, its their crazy president thats the issue
their students had a huge demonstration during one of his inflammatory speeches, but since they control all media those images didnt really get out
