Almost every party I went to since 2002 sucked ass, with the exception of good vibrations in 2005 which was also one ofthe best sets I have played. I'd rather make music at home than go to almost any party at this point.

yeah, Zygote impressed me ;) ...but besides that, I agree that Neurotoxik was great 'casue of the turnout at an HC party, and the melange with industrail, it really gave a much needed boost to the hardcore scene...but I haven't been impressed with a party, nor the headliners, for some time now...the vibe in the psy room at Psychoactive was awesome...but the most memorable parties for me are still We Are Slaves (the first one), Deathtrap, and, of course, The Fool (how could I forget?)... and, wait for it...wait for it...the recent NTK parties! under the way, under the ground, just great...I'm sure there were a few other good parties I'm forgetting...
But I would like to add that a good party does not depend entierly on one thing, lights are nice but do not make or break a party, what's important is the music, and whatever can influence the vibe... ...by the way, someone mentioned hype, but in my experience, more hype equals more disappointment...the vibe is created during the event, not before...
Anyway, a party is a party... .. .to each his own... .. .

Actually, if enough people are hyped, they create the good vibe. A vibe isn't made of lights or decorations, the ravers make it alive. If enough ravers say it's gonna be awesome, then it is gonna be awesome. The promoter has very little to do with the actual vibe, he can only convince the ravers to bring it.

Didn't went to sous le sol but party till the bust under the highway was awesome... there was like 50 ppl max and the vibe was great...

Otherwise, Zygote for having what I've always dreamed of in a rave: an half-dancefloor half mushpit... Sick...

New York: Dumbo Luna: July 15th 2001
Organised by Black Kat and this other big ass promo free thinking team.
It wasnt so much about the music (Adam X, Frankie Bones, Keoki, with a DnB room and heavy ragga)
But the decor.
it's in a 20 000Ft Warehouse, on the 9th floor of a factory building in Brooklyn, with windows overlooking Manhattan.
To penetrate the place (yeah I said penetrate) you had to take a lift with 30 other ppl. And when the doors opened

BAMMM! big ass wild party with 3 000+ ppl.

You'll never see this type of thing in Montreal.
Krews of 10-12 ppl dedicating their life to setting up huge swingsets for ppl to ride on, or this crazy area all draped in the middle of the place, with cameras pointed at you with mannequins lying around, and T.v.s and projectors showing this on the drappery.
There was also this big ass patch of grass. Like they stole 2000sq ft of "tourbe" to lay on the floor.
There was Sebastian's (the owner) big corporate desk close to the window that every just ended up dancing on.

at 7am. they blew up these two gas towers 2km north, so the 50 ppl left (yeah New-Yorkers don't stay late) gathered to the window with the sun in our face and the "boom" just jolted the needle on the turntable, we felt the sonic wave rumble the windows and go through us. INSANE!!! eveybody's like "FUCK YEAH" !!!!

We all left together, 50 ppl walking out of an industrial looking neighourhood, took the subway and ended up at the Havoc Soundsystem on Brooklyn Ave for more beers and Hardcore till everyone died.

Just perfect you know.
I'm feeling cracktastic right now..

good raves in my opinion have to bring really diverse elements together, two rooms always provides for a nice dynamic, but only if you make it work for you...it's stupid to do something like ragga in one room dnb in the other, or goa in one and psy trance in the other. Too many promoters make the mistake of only wanting to play music that they like this is stupid, you have to make the two rooms as different as possible even if one of the generes or ambiances is not something you really like. It also helps with turn out, more people are more likely to come, a good spread might be something like this Electro and House in one room, Hard Techno and Trance in the other, or Dnb and Jungle in one room and Goa and Free Form in the other. Also if you do this right the 'look' of the rooms should be completely different maybe one is "warm' looking one is 'cool' looking...
I'm feeling surly right now..

ix... earthdance... small parties, intimate and amazingly PLUR vibe.
earthdance is really the most impressive to me because the dance starts with forming the circle and joining hands in the prayer for peace held simultaneously in the whole world, and then doing the circle amerindian friendship dances. that gives a really special feel to the whole event after that, and since we were invited to arrive in the day to participate in workshops and various activities, most people had the time to get to know each other a little bit and we were actually dancing all together and interracting on the dancefloor.
I'm feeling free right now..

That's a good poing Basdini, 2 rooms with hardcore, or 2 rooms drum & bass is pretty useless. The fun in having a second room is having anohter kind of music. This way you can listen to something else when you're no longer in the mood for the music playing in the first room. Also, it brings two different crowds together.
I'm feeling don louis right now..

the big crazy hostyn party a few years back was super high quality had that rave vibe intact...

atomic hooligan @ summer breaks was great for me because i got to play along side my favorite breaks dj and he fuckin' MURDERED IT!!!

over the summer i played a cool party in new brunswick too...

it was kinda like going back in time 6-7 years and the kids were goin' APE SHIT!!

Personally i wish there was some 2 room partys with dnb and breaks.

or maybe one room electro house or techno and breaks and the other room hardcore and dnb?

that would be neato!!!
I'm feeling warm unicorn jizz right now..
