i realy liked the photo and the screenplay... tim burton is good for create atmosphere... u always have impression that he realy tell u a story...to much sometime because u feel someone hold your hand! poor ed wood who compare hiself with orson !!! |

| Coolness: 158950 | what new tuesday? a good one... australian slasher..based on a true story.the filming is excellent!but some problem with the light!...le reperage des lieux de filmage est bien fait..les vues sont a couper le soufle!it was a nice entertainement!
but i hated the end...realy i was like : it is a western or a psykorednek movie that i just came to watch? 8/10  |

so...top 5 of the moment road trip/travel movie! 1-lolita (one of my classique 4 ever..) 2-midnight express (with fucking awesome soundtrack from georgio moroder) 3-the beach (the book is better because of the gory end and the film is too hollywoodien$$ ...mais bon, i liked this movie..) 4-lost in translation (this women is a realy good director...i can't wait to see her next:marie-antoinette.they film the first time movie ever in the real chateau de versaille.) 5-l'auberge espagnole. (cedrik clapish reproduit les traitements de la nouvelle vague..cut ds le genre...) |

wow..i realy liked this one...the story od a disfonctional family..the traitement...it's so realistic!the litle details in the story feel like u ear from someone..the music is cool ....litle bit stereotype like alot of now arty movies from n,y.c. (du genre violon angoisse quand un des caractere court...)... the soundtrack is cool and reprezent the culture of this kind of family!lou reed...pink floyd... the actor are incredible!~jeff daniels impress me a lot! what i remember from him was dumb and dumber...he's so a good actor... also the childrens are perfect...it's a complexe and dense story with a simple screenplay!!it's permit me to discover an other part of brooklyn. i realy enjoy too the literature & cinema references....like when jeff daniel touch his lips and say in french to his ex : ''degueulasse'' like belmondo in the godard's a bout de souffle... |

i saw spaceballs when i was kidz...funny... he was involve in so many projects! he was the executive producer of david lynch's elephant man...this is genius.. wich movies make u appreciate him? come back writing when u watch bad or good movie! ;) ! |

 Coolness: 44870 | J'ai vraiment aimé ce film français... Ça fait longtemps que je l'ai vu, mais je le conseille. C'est un thriller noir, avec un humour assez bizzare qui fait sourir, mais pas rire. J'ai de vagues souvenirs qu'il y avait une sorte d'analogie au film Pulp Fiction... mais j'en suis pas très sur.

si t'aime ce genre tu devrais louer: quatre garcons plein d'avenir....c pissant....mais plus comedie que film noir.... les films d'albrt dupontel sont genial aussi: bernie et le createur... reviens poster des trucs comme ca !! :) !! |

 Coolness: 140900 | Akira Kurosawa - Warui yatsu hodo yoku nemuru (1960)
aka the worse you are the better you sleep génial! j'adore l'oeuvre de kurosawa à date (rashomon, ikiru) malgré que ce soit assez difficile de trouver des sous-titres fiables pour ces films ;) (mini-spoiler alert mais j'ai fais de mon mieux pour rien dire) c'est un take de Hamlet (honnêtement je n'ai jamais lu Hamlet mais ça vous donne quand même une idée) donc une grosse histoire de vengence mais dans un contexte tout autre que le stéréotype du film de samurai ou de kung fu cliché asiatique. On parle ici de corruption au sein d'une entreprise qui mène au suicide l'un de ses employé et ensuite les plans de vengence d'un de ses proches. Kurosawa arrive à allier les twists narratif du film noir américain et du thème de la vengence très propre aux Asiatiques en ajoutant même une touche de dramme social (on parle de mon interprétation personnelle... et c'est à noter que je ne suis encore qu'un cégepien!). Je n'ai pas non plus regarder le film assez souvent pour commeter l'esthétique ou le montage dans le film mais ce que j'ai remarquer c'est que son utilisation du flash-back est tout simplement géniale! Rien des effets cheezy... juste de la pure narration... surtout avec Rashomon, l'image parle d'elle même et même sans sous-titre, et malgré la complexité de la narration du récit, je crois qu'il est encore possible de comprendre le film... bon en tout cas... le but de mon retour dans ce thread était surtout d'essayer de trouver une place ou je peux trouver des films de répertoire sur internet (préférablement des torrent ou un hub de dc++)... je cherche, en gros, un peu tout les films qui ont marqué le cinéma (des welles aux antonioni) |

as-tu choisi celui pour la fin de ta session?a rosemont c'etait cool...on avait le choix entre plusieurs films des courants majeurs.... une fois j'avais choisi bande a part pour la nouvelle vague ...une autre fois j'avais trop trippe ds mon cour de cinema quebecois j'avais choisi un de robert lepage... tu as raison ds ton commentaire,le cinema est avant tout l'image...des puristes comme charlie chaplin s'etaient opposes a la bande son(dialogues) mais bon charlie composait les musiques de ses films ...puis pour la narration du scenario et du montage...godard avait un jour dit cette phrase toute simple:le cinema ne sera toujours qu'un debut,un millieu,une fin...il s'agit juste de jouer avec...un grand fan de godard(il a meme nomme sa cie de production bande a part..),quentin tarantino,l'a bien compris... pour ce qui est de sites web ...je suis vraiment old-school...c comme les livres...j'aime ca les tenir ds mes mains..et malheureusement,mon ordi est trop plein avec mes montages pour en plus rajouter ca!mais j'espere que tu vas trouver... reviens voir ici cette semaine je vais faire une liste special classiques de tout les temps non-commente...si tu veux des idees... |

Not too impressed. With myself and the movies. Fearless: 7/10 Jet Li doing the guy who started Wushu. Highly romanticised. Passive fashism. I don't know if that made sense to anyone. It's pretty condescending to other cultures in a not so talented subtle way. Good martial arts of course, nothing out of the ordinary. It's a feel good movie if your chinese. The promise: 6/10 When I see too much make-up, or this uber moralising story line, I get annoyed. It may be a kids movie, I dont' know, I'm not chinese. I think it might even be a girl flick, seriously, you never know. But there's this fairy like land, and the ppl there were semi gods, and this one guy that survived is now a slave.. yatti yatti yatta. You get what I'm saying... Seven Swords: 8/10 Great martial arts, ppl flying around, visualy interesting for the decors and costumes. So not the movie reviewer here.. when it's good it'S good. that's it. |

 Coolness: 102980 | the Promise is a love story fairy tale with lots of artsy stuff. The Cinematography is superb. It isn't a super sword fight movie.
Seven Swords i saw, but i don't remember it much. Some problems with pacing the action. |

got to get my hand on a copy of that it had all the ridiculously ill shit from Duel To The Death... including Ninja stealth attack by attaching themselves to kites one i didn't know and you guys can help me with includes two guys fighting each other with sausage nunchucks and one guy using the jaws of a shark as weapons watched a movie i rented last night called PRIMER it's about some engineers doing some independant research in their mothers garage and discover that they've created a field that bring them back in time the plot is pretty good and brainy check it out it's a pretty well produced low budget flick |

c'etait la premiere fois que ce film etait projete au u.s.a.!c'etait ds un petit theatre,ds une salle de 150 places,ds west village et seulement pour une semaine..c'etait plein a craquer,en majorite des [ americains...ca ] m'a surprise quand je l'ai constate au debut du film tout le monde s'etiraient pour voir les sous-titres minables vraiment trop petits !ha!ha! j'etais la seule calle bien confo ds mon siege!!lol!...mais l'interet des gens ne s'est pas degonfle durant la projection de ce chef-d'oeuvre de 150 min.je vais souvent au cinema et cette fois la je vais toujours m'en souvenir! je classerais ce film plus pret de la rive-gauche malgre qu'il est ete realise en 1969 ,certain traitements me rappellais nuit et brouillard(allain renais,1955)...tout est wow ds ce film la...la photo tres geometriques rapelle l'expressionnisme allemand(le titre aussi!)...le jeux des acteurs ( lino ventura,simonne signoret,serge regiani..)est poignant.. le theme du film: la cause politique qui passe avant l'amour et l'amitie...et bien sur les ss sont toujours aussi mechant!mais c'est loin d'etre un film genre camp de concentration!il y a beaucoup de deplacement,de l'action parfois un peu comme les films noir...j'ai aime l'humour de certaine scene...et aussi le sens du film. c'est l'histoire d'une cellule francaise de resistance durant la guerre de 1942...et quand tu y entre c pour toujours... |

For me, Army of Shadows was the kind of movie I will actually remember. I loved the parts like the Nazi soldier slowly walking down and checking each prison cell. It took so long but it was really realistic. That is what it would have been like. There was also so much tension in this movie with making the viewer feel they might be surprised at any minute (like the trick in all modern movies - something is always lurking). In this movie the thing lurking was the sense of doom and defeat. And made more so by the knowledge we have that in the end France was liberated. Also, I have read that Melville actually was a very active participant of the Resistance, and alot of people think that although some things might be stylized like Gerbiers escape from the Machine guns, alot of the movie is deemed to be very very realistic. Probably for me - escaping from the machine guns was the only really fantastic thing in the movie. I have read and wathed alot about WWII and alot of those things like the submarine and airplane drops were really happening. |
