| What a stupid fucken thread made purely to start Shit.. I listen to goa and Psy and get made fun of for it, Called a hippie, but i'm not and It's more of an appriciation for the time spend making psy.. Now i'm not trying to step on anyones feet here but out of all electronic musical styles not many are as complex in samples and patterns as psy trance.. Bitch, It's not easy to make.. and apperantly even harder to appriciate.. But speaking form a production point of veiw.. It's also some of the most fun music to make.. It's always changing.. If you want to go ahead and not like it.. THen by all means go for it, I mean you have people who'd rather go get a burger from mcdonlads then to eat at a nice classy meal. |

| You're ready way too much into this.. I'm jsut saying that psy is better (Not really better but diferent in a more complex way) than booty or tek or i dunno.. It will take more time to make a psy track than it would to make a booty track, Much like it would take alot more time to make a meal than to just reheat a buger.. Is that simple enough for you to grasp? |

In the time to make one really good psy track, you could make 5 or 6 good booty ones. However, for a DJ, it would be better to have 5 or 6 simple different tracks to choose from than one really complex one, and a lot of people prefer simple music if they want to just get down and dance... So you have to think about it that way as well. |

| yeah Scotty put it well....different styles for different situations....kinda like what grkzgl was saying....you can't swear by one style and not be called an idiot now and then...the thing about lots(not ALL) of Psy-trance afficionados is that they will talk about how it's organic and how you need to be open minded but some people don't go for organic, they could like cold and straight or warn and cheesy or wtv....and to accept that is to be really open minded but of course, unlike some, I don't think my opinion is the absolut truth...I'm just saying what I've noticed from observing. |

| Theres something out there for everyone...psy production is prolific. Dont judge it too harshly because you heard a few dj's and didnt like it (like most styles, there are dj who "got it" and dj's who "don't got it" ), over the years I've noticed psy is particularly easy to make sound horrible, no matter how technical you are, most tracks dont fit particularly well together due to many many reasons. However, there are a few djs (not all) who spend many hours searching for tracks that when combined thoughtfully and technically tell a story. Experience counts, there are many djs who can mix, but havnt spent enough time with the subleties to realise the full potential. Most of us in the psy community have completely different tastes and goals and that transpires in the music we select and how we mix it... basically, its important to choose the music you like, but its just as important to choose the dj mixing it... and that goes for anything -K
p.s. A shitty dj on a good sound system is still a shitty dj. |
