It's the way he runs the sound. When he wants to crank up the sound in the main room, he wants you to jack up the gain untill it's clipping to no end. That was the problem. The soundsystem is POWERFULL, but it's set too low, and he tries to make it "louder" by pushing the mixer untill all the chanel's "overload" light is always lit and the output meter is always peaked and has no dynamics.

He needs to increase the volume on the rack of amps, and LOWER the volume on the mixer.

anyone who's allowed to touch turntables or any sound equipment should be aware of this (what Fred said)

unfortunatly most club owners,dj's or performers have no clue .....

It's really too bad. I mean, the monitors were about twice as loud as the dancefloor and had way more bass, even though he's got like a TON of woofer cabinets. He needs a sound tec or something to explain him how sound works and how to set his sound system.

heheh well throw on any other mixer and your gonna get the same problem! It's completely the soundsystem not being run properly, and that's gonna end up damaging the speakers HARDCORE if it keeps going. If he tries to crank the system with his current "idea" on how the sound goes, he's gonna blow ALL his woofers and rip all the cones in one shot the second anything clips...

yeah seriously, mixer should not be peaking like that ever... Probably is distorting the hell out of the sound too, although I haven't been to that place yet

im sorry to say, but the dj's are the one's that control the mixer.. its up to them to make sure it doesn't peak.. then, when the sound tek realises that the sound is too low, they should up the power on the amp.. :)

You try and keep cobntroll of the mixer when the guy comes by and keeps upping your gains and upfaders to make it louder rather than touch his soundsystem! There IS no sound tek! That's what I'm saying, the guy has no idea how to run his system, and the only way to currently get any decent sound out of it is to crank up the mixer 'cause he doesn't want to touch the rack other than to make the stairs louder..
