Passwords are no longer good enough, we should use passphrases.

minimum 5 words with 1 number.

This idea sucks. No way I'm gonna remember a word AND a number... are they freaken nuts?!??

well think about it, how hard is it to remember a phrase?

"Every dance by the pale blue moon light?"

honnestly that's a lot more secure than "2kjH324" simply cause it's so long, yet it's way easier to remember...

Secure? I doubt it... easier to remember... yes.

uhh, mind going through how you figure having a 30 character phrase is less secure than a 7 character password?

I wonder how many teenagers will use the chorus of the latest pop song out there. 7 random caracters is more secure... yes.

I be gone now.

the more characters the better.
but pass phrases are just stupid... and would probably make it easier to crack.

Not if they were brute-forcing... Pass phrase with a number somewhere would be great.

And look at shit online, it's not like anyone knows how to fucking SPELL anymore, brute-forcing would be fucking impossible.

exactly, and even if they were using dictionaries, with punctuation and names.. there would be a near impossible number of combinations..

there's no way you could have a dictionary doing brute force with "pop phrases" i mean really, how many songs are there, and how many cool things to say are there.....?

i think it's a great idea.

if you don't then fine, use a less secure cypher.
it's always been said, the longer your password, the more secure it is.

Whatever when we have quantum computers all passwords will become useless anyway :D

yeah what`s that about? quantum computers? you mean quantum sized chips? you would still use passwords

Quantum computers would be able to break any cipher by the nature of how quibits are manipulated. It wouldn't even need to "crack" the password.

ok so i read up about it and you`re right, but apparently all you would have to do to make certain algorithms secure would be to make the key size larger than the largest quantum computer that can be built. or maybe by then Quantum cryptography will be made possible.
