Cool post. The "golden spiral" and the ratio phi is also something that fascinates me; apparently this ratio can be found everywhere in nature, and has been incorporated into numerous examples of art and archetecture.

I wouldn't call time a "pseudo" term, however. I think you're confusing time itself with the units by which it is measured. Of course, seconds, minutes and hours are completely arbitrary measurements. We could just as well develop a system of time that had, for example, 100 seconds per minute rather than 60. But time exists independant of how it is measured, just like objects have mass no matter whether its measured in pounds or kilograms.

As far as cosmological theory goes, time and space are fundamentally related to one another (just as mass and energy are, e=mc^2) and space-time is actually the fabric of the universe.

Your discussion of "conscious life" vs "total life" is also interesting, but again I must disagree. Sleep is not useless in one's development; its a time for dreams and for the assimilation of unconscious mental contents. Dream life and waking life surely complement each other. So someone who sleeps less will likely have a less active dream life, and this in turn will effect their waking life. Besides, someone who sleeps more each night might be more alert and aware during the day, thus more fully conscious than someone who is often drowsy. There are many degress of consciousness, not just "asleep" and "awake".

J'ADORE DES POSTS COMME ÇA!!! WOOOWIIIEEEE!!!

Genre à c-speed y'a pu de temps.

Me wanna go at c-speed.

LONDON, Jan. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher topped donations by a long list of sports organizationsand personalities as he promised to donate 10 million US dollars for the South Asian tsunami aid effort on Tuesday.

The driver's manager Willi Weber announced his donation on a German television fundraising drive that on Tuesday evening received more than 34 million euros (46.2 million US dollars) in pledges.

Earlier in the day, the International Olympic Committee led theway, pledging 1 million US dollars, and further sports events are planned around the world to boost fundraising.

"It's so unfathomable and horrible what happened to so many people," Schumacher, who turned 36 on Monday, said in comments on his website. "One cannot simply blind it out. We're suffering with them."

10 million , that's 1/8 of Canada pledge. (not including the 65 000 000$ from canadian citizens)

Japan is at the top with 500 000 000 $
World Bank (The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) pledge 250 000 000 $

ah yes, noah is right... it's was made that way.

The Sun, our Moon, the rest of the planets, the weather system on Earth, the Earth axial tilt , the Earth core, the magnetic field all got together and form a conspiracy so we puny little human will have a 24 hours a day, 60 minutes, 60 seconds.

seriously it isn't perfect, we get a leap second every 27 years. Don't forget to set your watches!

In the spring of 1918, as the nation mobilized for war, Private Albert Gitchell reported to an Army hospital in Kansas. He was diagnosed with the flu, a disease doctors knew little about. Before the year was out, America would be ravaged by a flu epidemic that killed 675,000--more than in all the wars of this century combined--before disappearing as mysteriously as it began.
