I think its cool
they are selling their album online for whatever you want to pay for it. It s not like they are forcing people to spend $80 just to get their album. The $80 thing is for the hardcore Fans... the ones who go to shows..... Also, you have to realize that albums in the UK sell for 7 to 15 pound already and vinyl about the same. so thats already potentially 30 pounds if you choose to own it in both formats, plus you get a book and an exclusive CD and other stuff too. I think its groups like Radiohead who don't care about having a #1 album, who are going to try these types of things and eventually pave the way for new methods of selling music. Maybe it wont work, but at least they tried it. Most people are happy having just the Mp3, but for those who want something physical to hold onto, they give you a shit load of stuff at what I feel is a pretty reasonable price. The thing is, this would only work for a band with an established fan base. Oh ya, and if they pay the shipping, which I'm not sure about, its an even better deal. Personally I'm not interested though. |
