They're people that don't think for themselves, they consume what they are TOLD to consume

Maybe some people sincerely enjoy Lady Gaga, like just some people sincerely enjoy listening to Bono's wack ass fucking lyrics. I listen to the radio, like CISM, and sometimes there's some really good music on there!

The thing that bothers me is, now that we have the internet, and can find whatever the fuck you want, when you want it, why would you settle on listening, or liking something that someone else told you to like? Seriously... Do people out there really upload the Top 40 to their iPods?

the music industry is gangster

back in the old days, and probably still today... gangsters would invest heavily in a record label or in starting a new artist's career.

they would then go to the radio stations and force the DJs to play that song a certain number of times a day. - that way people get brainwashed by it, as you said, and it becomes a hit

if the DJs don't comply they could get their legs broken or worse

true story

in the Godfather movie, some second-rate actor goes crying to Marlon Brando about how he didn't get the starring role in some movie - so the Godfather sends his man out to LA to "make them an offer they can't refuse"

that line was borrowed from a real-life event. a gangster freed Frank Sinatra from his contract with another band by sticking a gun in the bandleader's mouth. when asked how he persuaded the man to give up Sinatra for nothing, he said "I made him an offer he couldn't refuse"

this kind of thing happens a lot behind the scenes.

similarly, Suge Knight - who was really just a bodyguard - went to Eazy E's Ruthless Records office with a few of his Blood associates.

after the meeting was over, Eazy E had agreed to release Dr Dre - his biggest earner for Ruthless - from his contract - for free.

Dre then joined Suge's newly formed Death Row label, and made Suge a very rich man.

haha yeah. and honestly I believe he did that and much worse. I firmly believe he had Tupac killed because Tupac was about to leave his record label. not only would he lose his brightest star, but would have to pay back Tupac several million that he owed.

Tupac was worth much more dead to him than alive.

Tupac had made it clear he was soon leaving, and had expressed fears about how Suge would react.

Suge invited him to Las Vegas for the Tyson fight, and shortly after Tupac was murdered.

that way he never got to leave Death Row, and Suge owns all the rights to this now-deceased hip hop legend

a few months later Notorious BIG came to LA, and was also the victim of an unsolved murder

I highly recommend this Rolling Stone article. It claims that Suge Knight was part of a major drug-ring, and used LAPD detectives to move the drugs and provide securty

It goes on to claim that Suge and his associates had both Tupac AND biggie Smalls murdered, using these corrupt LAPD detectives to arrange the hits and cover up the investigations

the top-brass in the LAPD is reluctant to let the truth be heard, because they fear the public reaction to yet another LAPD scandal.. so they are more than willing to hide the facts

I know it sounds hard to believe, but truth is stranger than fiction

read the article, and THEN see what you think. I know I'm convinced. The whole theory of their murders being part of some crips/bloods - east-coast/west-coast feud is just a smoke screen.

this guy Suge Knight is an arch-criminal

article is here.

it's very long but *very* good.
