yeah and back then it was good to have more children to help you with your FARMING.... and also because most of the kids you had died before they could grow up... so it made sence to have 8 kids so 3 of them could survive to help you GROW CROPS... |

Christians and the pope have said that about every culture they ever invaded. And yes btw the christians raped and burned their children, not the other way around. There`s a difference between promoting sex with multiple partners and not having a rule about it. The difference between the old religions and the new ones is that the old ones consisted of a set of philosophies rather then rules, and whatever rules they did have were backed up by solid philosophical truths. Chrisianity has nothing to back up anythign it says. It`s message is to obey without thinking, and that is the mentality it spreads. People are entitled to their opinions and whatever path in life they may chose. Today religion is a rule book by which to live your life, it shouldn`t be that way, it didn`t used to be. This is why christianity is dying. This is also why ancient religions never died, not until they were forced to obey or die that is. With the christians came war and discrimination. Most of our society gave up on the bible and as a consequence we are seeing more and more improvements and acceptance. |

It was like that since before this pope was ever born. The catholics get critisized for it a lot. |

and I'm sorry, but sexual education and contraception is the key to control HIV, not a religion saying that you should not have sex before marriage with only one partner, we all know this doesn't work. I dissagree. I think the cure is self-control ultimately and eternally. |

you can't stop people from indulging in what they desire. making drugs or prostitution illegal has done nothing to stop either, because many people are going to pay for what they desire, regardless of the law. if you tell unmarried people to abstain completely, it will not reduce disease or pregnancy, not everyone can control their desires, and many just won't believe the arguments for why it is considered wrong. someone could have the self-control and still get aids because their partner cheated on them or they got raped. causing people to hide their actions out of fear will spread these problems.
They have done studies at schools with high pregnancy rates (in Britain) which started new sex-ed classes that taught that sex and intimacy can be more than just intercourse, suggesting oral sex, etc. as an option, and pregnancy rates dropped. telling them to not have any sexuality at all, will do nothing, but education that gives the real facts and not propaganda works better. Just like with drugs, if u tell kids its evil and just say no, they will do it anyways, but if you give them the straight facts, more will decide to say no or to use drugs in a safer manner. |

What did Church do to help them? The Pope said in a Travel in Africa to do not use contraceptive because sex should always be done for reproduction. What do a bunch of old men that never had sex know about this? It's a good point. I suppose. But who says they NEVER had sex.. what do people who "always" have sex know about abstaining from it. Contraceptives are a temporary solution to a permanent problem. |
