Live Sets

Deviant Species Live!
Deviant Species is Santos De Castro
was formed in 1997 with former member Paul Wright. The first EP release 'Blind Summit' attracted much attention and secured Deviant Species a place in the South Africa 2000 Millennium festival.

After 4 succesful EP releases the acclaimed first album 'Hatch' came out.

One year later Deviant Species founded Ambivalent Records with the release of 'The Quest for Balojax' (2001) their 2nd album, which established the act as one of the luminaires of the genre. Deviant Species split in 2003 with Santos remaining the only member in the project.
In 2004 the much anticipated 3rd album 'In The Hands of the Randomiser' came out receiving rave reviews all over the world.

Other Deviant Species tracks featured in the Ambivalent Rec compilations AMBCD7 Further Ambivalent Tendencies released in 2006. New tracks will be included in the forthcoming compilation release 'Ambivalence' AMBCD8. He's currently working on an album with Ady (Scorb) under the name Squid Inc.

Santos was born in the Basque Country. Initially a drummer, he took permament residence in London in the 90's where he joined industrial band Pig playing as the opening band for Nine Inch Nails in their Downward the Spiral tour.

superheavyREGGAE" with friendlyness, jeremiah and isax. - Toronto

Created in 2000, superheavyREGGAE was formed by Jeremiah, Friendlyness and I-sax with a mission to give the reggae massive the best in Modern Roots, Lovers Rock and Classic Dubs. Starting off with some scattered shows here and there throughout the city of Toronto, we originally settled in at 56 Kensington Ave in the heart of the famous Kensington Market, holding a regular session on the second Saturday of each month . Remember that venue with the huge aquariums and the days when we were allowed to smoke inside the club with no ventilation? "Mi seh.. is like I inhale a quarter poun' a i-shen.." After 56 closed down we made the move over to Thymeless, home of the First Trumpet sound system. Blessed for us, Thymeless is located at 355 College St, just around the corner from where 56 used to be, so the massive that we had started to build up didn't have to go to far to find us. Now, after about 3 years of holding it steady at Thymeless, we're going on stronger than ever. We're still holding the sessions there and they're still on the second Saturday of each month. Known as a blessed event, superheavyREGGAE draws the people because we play music FOR the people. Guests performing at superheavy have included Ini-man from Caveman sound, Demolition Man, Anthony Malvo, Chester Miller, Sassafrass, Treson and Humble. The superheavy family continues to grow and we say love to one and all!

dude ray was annoyed, you kept talking to him during his live set, u did the same thing to my friend Will last year at secret society when he played live and came here from T.O., and u just basically kept asking him to cut it short so u could play which he did!cause u were bothering him too much and that sucked! u were a very funy part of conversation in the morning just shaking our heads in disbelief on how someone could be so disrespectful.

thats your opinion, it doesnt give anyone the right to try to stop the set to play themselves. I like many others happened to love progressive, and that wasnt even a progressive set ray was playing. anyways I dont want to get into that. Manu will be missed, this party was killer~ see you soon Manu!! love you.

AMAZING PARTY!!!! good job, my only complaint was the dickhead bothering ekoplex for his live set which he prepared for this party, and didnt get to finish cause the guy crying to play which this same dude DReamtektor did the same thing to my friend Will last time!! very proffessional!! people paid up to 25 for the party and would have liked to hear Rays set! he worked hard on that as well, its annoying to have some fucked up guy bothering you most of your set. next time be more professional and show up for yout time slot, and stop being a baby wanting to play during peoples sets!! you ruined a perfectly nice trip I was having two times so far!

Good job you guys anyways with everything else!

Definetley do it outside if u are thinking of trying it, be in the forest or just a place that is so beautiful to you.

out of years of tripping, the first time I had a bad trip was only once for about 10 mins, I had put up my dreamcatchers at secret society, and someone took them down, those things are super important to me, very original, and made by freinds, I saw them missing, and totally freaked out thinking someone had taken them.....I searched for a while and found them on the floor, put them back up, and my bad trip was gone. I hope whoever did that reads this, and learns that it is SOOO disrespectful to take down anyones art or deco anywhere u go......loook but please dont touch it, unless its interactive.
