For this edition of our popular Up-N-Comerz events, Sundaze is doing something a little bit different than what we've done before...

SUNDAZE Up-N-Comerz 4: The Second Coming

We're filling the line-up with both those DJs who've played for the Sundaze crew already in past UnC events, as well as with those who haven't yet been corrupted by us! It'll be a "Second Coming" for some of these Dj's to allow us to hear and feel just how far they've come along in the past 3 - 12 months... but we're also adding some new blood in the mix, to perhaps show up the returning talent? We'll see, won't we.... ;)

Ultimately, we're hoping that maybe if these DJ's simply know there is continued support for them throughout their development as a DJ, it could be one more little bit of incentive to help keep their passion alive for sharing this music we all cherish.

(But enough of the sappy shit... on to the details for this UnC instalment!)

DEMO SUBMISSION INFO for Up-N-Comerz 5 in April/May, 2006:

Bring your demo and contact info, and come visit Sundaze Day Lounge & After-Party at MAVERICKS - 221 RIDEAU ST. @ Cumberland any Sunday between 6am-4pm and ask for Rick, or leave a demo at the bar.

You can also stop in at Mavericks any other day and leave a demo with the bartender, to the attention of: Sundaze/Rick Laplante

If you have a mix hosted on-line, you can quote "up-n-comerz" in the subject line of the e-mail you send to:

ricklaplante@hotmail.com

... and leave details or a link about where to find your mix.

As mentioned above, this is not a contest, there are no prizes (although FYI: our resident Luc Labelle was in our first Up-n-Comerz... but we aren't promising anything... hehe!). This is mainly just an opportunity to get your name and your sound out there... but there is ONE condition:

Demos must be HOUSE, TECH-HOUSE, (not trancey) PROGRESSIVE, ELECTRO, or *similar* genres, please. Keep in mind it's a club crowd who have danced all night (or just woken up - lol), so please use your best judgement when programming your mix. Thank you! :)

EVENT BACKGROUND:

Sundaze has always looked to help support and contribute to the Ottawa club scene by introducing great national, international, and most importantly LOCAL Dj's and EDM musicians. That's why we started a series of events for those bedroom/basement and little known DJ's who have also been enthusiastically supporting Ottawa's club and EDM scene through their love of music.

The Sundaze UP-N-COMERZ series is our small way to offer a chance for them to get a little something back.

This is not a contest. Dj's do not have to pay the promoters, they don't have to get a bunch of friends to buy a minimum number of drinks. All they have to do is hand in a DJ demo that shows they are ready to make the move from the bedroom or basement into the clubs. On the down side, "this is not a contest", so we don't have cash and fabulous prizes for the Dj's. Just a chance to come out, get some exposure and drop some beats for a room of people ready to dance.

And in my humble opinion, the intimate Sundaze "living room" environment is the perfect place to do it... a relaxed atmosphere full of friendly people, not to mention playing on the "biggest" little sound system in Ottawa.
