ummm not all living things are parasites... Parasites thrive and prey on another being without its consonance. The relantionship between tree, soil, and air is a symbiotic one.

Whether a human being is a parasite or not on its fellow being or Nature, it is up to the individual. Our choice, the free will to choose our path is the very heart of humanity.

It is not survival of the fittest, it is the survival of who can adapt the fastest to a changing environment.

Everyone is selfish.
If i volunteer to teach in Africa the dangers of unprotected sex (aids) because helping others is what makes me happy, isnt that selfish of me? Isn't it unconsciously self serving because i strived for something that placates my well being?

"Im allergic to human beings"

seriously, too. Yeah it sounds kinda sick, kinda sad. But people around me are so caught up with themselves its disgusting. and its not just those around me, its the whole fucking world. I guess I didnt wanto accept this before. I guess I ratherd keep my eyes closed and hope that when Id open them something would have changed. Silly me. Those that do care are precious, and usually endup bruised.

I dont think Im a very selfish person. But its come to a point where I cannot give anymore. Cause people just keep on taking. So Ive decided to be there for myself. And not care anymore. I cant. And this hurts a whole fucking lot. Maybe Im being selfish. Maybe Im becoming just like those fuckers who just dont give a fuck, and put themselves before everyone else. I just cant put myself last anymore.

By doing this, I guess I fall in with those who disgust me, those who are so caught up with themselves. and then again, maybe Im just being an extremist. *sigh*

Thats totaly cool!

I know exactly how you feel. These past few months (meybe a year) Ive felt exaclty the way you do. I even just wrote an assignment for my class based on an experience that made me feel as though that all selfless ascts are done in order to have them returned on demand.

So I too got angry at the world. And I then realized that I too would be falling in that pit by thinking that way. So it's best to forget them, and go your own way with those who do things for you because they care... Bleh, what the hell am I saying.

Either way, even though shit looks and smell like shit now.. Just by reading some of these posts, it looks like people still care, and its all good.

Hasn't anyone seen Oprah? There's like this epidemic of women who are suffering in misery because they compulsively put other people first their whole lives. And they have to learn how to put themselves first for a while.

But ya see, thats a womans issue. Men don't have that problem; they're too busy, out having fun with their ego's.

If I can make one person smile or feel good about themselves everyday, then I know I've made one heart warm, even if for only a matter of seconds. I don't need to be remembered, I don’t want to live forever, I’m perfectly content being lost in an ocean of eternity, swallowed up by things that are light years more important then my soul existence... if I could make the world a warmer place one smile or laugh at a time, then that’s what ill do, cause no matter how futile it may seem in the eyes of our species and it's persevering strives for existence, it gives me one form of use in existence, and a positive one none the less...everyone has something that they feel genuinely good at, for me it’s entertaining people, it always has been, and it may very well always be…and though it may not be my sole purpose in this life time, it is something I chose to employ and share with my fellow peoples…there are so many things in life that are worth more then money could ever be, those are the things I think that we should never forget to appreciate, cause at the end of every day, life is what you chose to make of it…

Ufot-truely being happy without cause...

props to evryone guyee, cuz everyone has good points in their responses, and i already respect hayley, so she gets a gol-stah!

the thin ice of modern life...
thing is though, it is true, this is a consumers world. we live in a corporate society.

we are too stuck up on money and our reputations to really enjoy the good things in life. we take too much for granted, and advantage of the people that help us and care about us most.

we are a brutal kind. a disgustingly obnoxious generation. we are here to learn, but how will we learn the things we are here to discover, if we're stuck in this rut?

we have to burn the uniforms we reside in, and dispose our useless rituals of the past...

we all want to be in power, because it makes us feel good, we feed off peoples misfortunes- and im not saying im any better. we're all hypocrites and whoever says they hate them and that they arent, is lying to themself.

everyone kinda already said what i wanted to, and i dont know where i am going with this, so i guess i havent really added anything... o well.

one more thing, we all want to change the way the world is now, we all want to make a difference, and we can... yeah. we can. ok... richard simmons told me!

seeing the reality of it all though is discouraging, cuz some people are out to bring you down, and the sad thing is, those are the only people we see... dont know what you got till its gone, and the good people usually are by the time it hits you in the head.

dno if i made a point or not.. i doubt i did.. so TOOTLLLES to all.

Problem is we are caught in a vicious circle of consumerism. I am constantly fustrated with my cage. The bars were placed there by my own two hands, yet removing the bars are nearly impossible at this stage. I am forced to work 40 hours to pay for my houseing, clothing and food. I am forced to work 40 hours a week to have a car and gas to get to work, to work those 40 hours. When i get home i dont have that much energy to work on my art, which fucking sucks...we need a revolution.

The line between being a parasite and being in symbiosis is very slim, and tends to be relative when you consider the huge cycle of interaction between elements in any given environment.

Vegetation can be parasital to an ecosytem, overtaking the nutrients from the soil from other vegetation. Ultimatly there is an symbiosis that installs in every system. Life's evolution was based on disbalancements of these relationships.

Like I said, it's all in what you give back. And ultimetly, even parasites give back, maybe not to the system that is being prayed on, but on a more global scale to others systems that are in in contact with.

That's why when you believe something to be a parasite, look around and see it's interaction on the greater scheme. Mankind can control it's position in the interactions it has, and I still believe that we're meant to be in symbiosis with our system, bearing in mind we're praying on smaller ecosystems to survive.
