Biography

“Stranjah”‘s introduction into the world drum and bass scene has been an explosive one. With a production background spanning over 6 years, his musical curiosity and production abilities have lead him to become one of North America's top producers in a very short time. While his early forays into creating music included house and techno, he soon fell in love with the breakbeat sound and began sculpting a sound of his own.

In 1999, Stranjah made his first big step into the world of drum and bass upon releasing his first demo, gaining the attention of DJ's and record labels all over North America and in the UK. At this time his music caught the attention of L double and Steppa of Flex Records in the UK. Following this, a deal was signed for a 12-inch release, with another single and 4 track EP to follow. Since then, Stranjah has released music on labels such as Blaydrunner, Vinyl Syndicate, and Media Recordings.

Currently, Stranjah has been hard at work running his new label Version Recordings. His vision for the company is to become one of the top drum and bass labels in the world by maintaining quality and pushing the envelope of the music. The label will feature releases from himself, new brood Outlook and Infiltrata, and talks of some bigger names within the year.

Aside from this, Stranjah has been involved in several other music projects outside of drum and bass including the Freedom Writers Movement (a hip-hop project), a nu-jazz/broken-beat project, and producing pop/r&b music for the Asian music market. This year, he will be kickstarting a new music production company that will provide pop, hip-hop, r&b, and rock music for demanding artists around the globe. This and with heavyweights such as Grooverider, L Double, Randall, Marky and Bailey playing his tracks, there is no doubt that Stranjah’s prominence within the world of music will remain.

Emcee // Writer // Producer

_UNDERSTANDING
(lsd)

Bright with the radiance of intellect; not darkened or confused by delirium or madness; marked by the regular operations of reason; as, a lucid interval.

All the world needs is to open their eyes // and see clearly // why do people fear me //
the words I speak aren’t any different // then citizens before me // take a step back and reform these // views loosely // condemned by lack morals // society finds you in contempt // redemption is not the earth // inception from day of birth // angels burn at the sight of souls of empty urns //
see long ago I set out to make the world a better place // slowly I realized inside me lies the key to finding // what’s true, what’s real and what’s wrong with every cause // eventually it gets lost // led astray // tempted fate // moral suicide attempted // too late // but I will never stop I will carry on this fight // I may stay blind for a minute // But I will regain consciousness and battle till the finish.

Lucid broke into the Drum and Bass scene when he was featured at a party justly named "Who's Steppin in" in 2000 presented by [ torontojungle.com ] and vital productions, a party dedicated to promoting Toronto’s most promising new artists. Since then Lucid has gained experience hosting a wide range of sounds and has worked along side such talents as Klute, Peshay, Asides, Hive, Concord Dawn, Black Sun Empire, Pendulum, Rusuden, Enduser, Capital J, Marcus Visionary, Ryan Ruckus, Stranjah, 0=0, Rick Toxic, Mystical Influence, Sniper, Kinetic, and many others.

Although Commonly known as an emcee within the Toronto Drum and Bass Community, Lucid has set his sights on bigger goals, one without confines, without borders, without limits. Simply put just MAKE MUSIC. Lucid Keeps busy with ongoing side projects, such as his own brainchild The Freedom Writers Movement, who’s main focus is to provide music with a message, utilizing music as a vehicle to spread the message. Lucid also has an -active role with Stranjah’s imprint Versions Recordings not only as an artist on the label but as acting A&R and head of public relations, as well as being part of Masia One’s, M1 GROUP Marketing Team. Lucid is also working on various other vocal projects from ghost writing for artist to doing vocal work with various IDM artists but most importantly Lucid is writing and making music.

I don’t know where I’m going or where I’ve been,
but through each piece of music written,
a new path is seen.
