Yep, the Père du Meuble of noise music himself, Masami Akita, "performed" live last tuesday as part of Cité des Ondes [ www.champlibre.com ]
The music (haha) was great, nicely structured, and harsh enough for me.
The crowd was full of artwhores and Mutek geeks, i.e. people I cannot stand, so I won't comment on that.
For $5 it was worth it.

No, he was playing with two laptops only. He looked autistic.

Merzbow: slight deformation of the word "merzbau", invented by German Dada artist Schwitters in the 1920s to describe his works.
Masami Akita has been making noise since the late 1970s.

It's searching for water under the sand. They live in desert areas and water doesn't stay above ground very long.

damn merzbow was in town and I missed it :(

Yeah, I cannot stand those art freaks / mutek geeks.. where the hell do these people come from? The Plateau?

How come people have to try and even make weird electronic music elitest? I mean I can understand candykids being elitests or junglists being elitests but how the hell do you define an experimental music elitest? MY NAME IS RAVEN, AND I AM AN ELITEST ASSHOLE...

I've never seen a live ostrage, so I can't answer.

Mutek geeks are just everywhere! They think that anything with a beat is immature.

funny you say that
since Mutek has a lot of experimental house
which has a beat!

but mind you
90% of all four to the floor music is immature. It hasn't evolved. Mutek sheds some hope to this though. When I went to go see Radio Boy live at one of the Mutek concerts this year, I was subjected to an abundant dosage of minimal / tech house. Some of it was actually not all that bad.

Mutek sucks, period.
"IDM" is the most hypocritical name ever given to music.

4 on 4 music is immature?

how do you want it to evolve? move to 4.5 on 4?
