It's natural to want shitty things to happen to people who made things shitty for you, but it ain't karma, it's revenge.

Vengeance, usually chalked-up to justice, is a normal desire. If someone steals from you, wouldn't you want them to get hit by a car while running away? Being forgiving, passive, tolerant, restrained, is all very sweet and perhaps perceived as stoic / strong, but is it also a sign of weakness to just let things go, to let 'karma' and life deal with things for you?

I think it's a case by case situation. Sometimes dropping an issue and being the bigger person is the best option, but sometimes the only means of achieving closure following a traumatic situation in which someone was a total bitch/asshole to you is making sure they suffer the consequences of their actions.

Without consequence, does the perpetrator of the hateful act ever learn? Won't they simply repeat their behavior with others?

If karma worked, then we wouldn't need the police, law, punishment, etc. ... nature would meat out it's own justice. But, humanity has learned that good or bad, people suffer whether or not they're saints or dicks.

Every single nice guy sees an asshole leave the club with the hot chick, and wonders: why is life so unfair? I tell what, life has nothing to do with fairness, the situation you're in results from the equation: human psychology + geography + your actions + other people's action + randomness = life .
I'm feeling you up right now..

Girls love assholes for some reason. Espcially hot chicks, the more you're an asshole the more they love it...so wierd

I chalk it up to the psychology of wanting what you cant have. The hot chick she can have any guy she wants, so she gets turned off by the "puppy" effect she has on the average man, then goes for the guy she percieves as a "challenge" aka the asshole.

The cool thing about Montreal though is the hot chicks outnumber the assholes, so the chances of getting laid if you're a nice dude are much higher than in the rest of North America.

I wonder though, would that supernatural force take that into consideration though, and somehow protect you from harm because you don't use any will force yourself, to inflict harm onto others?
Mise À Jour » raisinlove a écrit sur Mon 28 Nov, 2011 @ 12:13pm
The way I understand the concept of karma is that a force/energy/god observes the actions of people, judges these actions according to a certain set of ethics and morals (based on the current culture and time period I imagine) and then influences other living beings and natural phenomena into affecting the people judged according to their actions.
Also, wishing harm and good towards others somehow works like praying, in that the karma force registers these thoughts and considers them when influencing the world to work for or against individuals.
Does this make any sense?

Hate is a horrible thing. It really is a nasty emotion to have towards any one or thing.
Karma is not a god, or higher being etc, it's more like gambling.
The more you fuck with people, the higher your chance is getting fucked.

To a certain extent, I can wish bad karma to people who have crossed me. No problem.
But certain things definitely need closure, and vengeance, in my opinion. (karma does not apply here)

a) good example of karma: that fucker left with my cigarettes! oh well, he'll get what's coming to him.

b) bad example of karma: he fucked my girlfriend! well, wtv, someone will fuck his girlfriend one day.

All the time. Hate is good for you, it lets you know that you're alive and you have extremely strong feelings about whatever or whoever it is you're feeling your hatred for.

You can't love everyone, or love loses it's value. If you love everyone, your girlfriend or wife or parents or pet aren't 'special' or 'different', they're just "there", and it's all very bland.

You need the extremes to remind you who you are and what you stand for. If you just feel love and apathy, then you're just seeing the world in white and grey, but to appreciate the details you need the black, you need the red, you need the blue; if you aren't feeling the WHOLE spectrum of human emotions, from love to apathy to hate to sadness.. If you avoid some of them, it's like looking at a beautiful landscape but not seeing the colour green, or blue; the picture is incomplete.

You feel these things for a reason, and trying to ignore your feelings, or not letting yourself indulge in specific ones, makes you a more miserable and maladjusted person in the long run. You can't eat cake every day and expect to stay healthy, you've got to have some veggies and some steak once in a while, vary your diet up, if you want to get the nutrients and vitamins you need to be healthy, and the same thing applies for your mental health. If you try not to feel hate or anger, you're hurting yourself and you're stunting your psychological and emotional growth.

Hate is natural, normal, and needed, for a healthy mind. Don't ever let anyone tell you different. If we weren't meant to feel hate or anger, then we wouldn't. Hate, love, and be proud that you're not limiting yourself to only being what other people tell you you should be. If you hate something, it's because you have PASSION and DRIVE, and those are things to be proud of.

I dont believe that love divides itself, I believe it multiples. Same with hate btw.

...and I think love is better for my heart in the long run.

Agreed ... I've always said 'The more I hate people, the more love I have for those I like' xD

At some point, hate is normal, one of the survival instincts. If someone displeases you greatly, you hate them, and that keeps you aways from them, as they are potentially detrimental to your well-being.

The problem is, alot of hate is mis-placed. Like, if you hate (easy example) pro-abortionists, just 'cause they go against your core values, you're hating for nothing, since those people don't have a directly negative effect on your actual life - like say some asshole who's always douchy to you might.
So, ''omg, those people are killing babies, I hate them'' is wrong, since there's no adverse affect on your own personal life (they aren't killing YOUR babies). ''I hate that guy, he's always an asshole to me and tries to cock-block me'' is fine, it makes you more careful of their actions, more aware of their negative affects on your life, and you can therefore avoid them.

Hat is powerful, but if you think that it's the only thing that make you make dumb emotional moves, think about all the stupid things you've done for love !

IMHO ;) ... (the H stands for 'hateful' :p )

Love/hate, good/bad, wrong right, is all so Judo-Christian. Its a learned mental pattern and not one of humans better innovations.

Hate is normal? why, or what is normal about hate? Unless you have a crummy life and are surrounded by mean and spiteful peoples.

Hate is a survival instinct? Fear might be a normal survival instinct. Fear is what tell you to gtfo as quick as possible, thus protecting your life.

Hate however will push you to seek revenge or even be the aggressor and take the risk of injury and needless and unwanted collateral harm and destruction.

True, to a certain extent.

Like I said, there's misplaced hatred, and useful hatred ... I admit, it's a fine line - and a hard one to draw for those who haven't already walked it.

Hate is definitely normal. What about those people who have a great life, but still 'hate' the guy on TV for selling them bullshit. They won't let it ruin their day, but they won't pay attention to the asshole and give in either. Maybe to hate is to be aware of that which seeks to abuse you.

And hey, there plenty of things that are normal but aren't necessarily good ;)

Anyway, I'm tired of people hating on hate! It's part of who we are and you can either deal with it, or ignore it (and if you ignore the cause/effect, then you can't find the root of the problem).

Of course, if what you feel all the time is only hatred, despising every single thing, then yes, it's dangerous and needs to be dealt with.

But if we could survive on perpetual happiness, bad things wouldn't happen ...

Its ultimately important to be selective and discriminate. Hate however is a waste of time and energy, in my opinion.

But if karma is not a sentient force, how is it directed? Are there universal actions that create universal reactions? Does this mean everything is predetermined?
Karma is in fact the opposite of gambling. In gambling, you don't know the outcome, whereas karma has a predetermined outcome: bad yields bad and good yields good.

Karma, as a concept, is essentially a tool of oppression similar to the christian/catholic/etc. of heaven and hell; do good, get good. do bad, get bad. Karma, heaven and hell, the wiccan "rule of three", are all the same thing; telling people that one person's ideology is more right than others, and that you have to live your life to THEIR standard, rather than yours.

It's also an easy way around thinking about hate or revenge for those that think it's "wrong" to hate or want vengeance on someone for their actions. Saying/thinking "Karma will get them back for ******" is the same thing as saying "You're going to go to hell for that", which really is just another way of saying "I hope you suffer", but instead of saying something so cold and cruel, you make it out that their actions are going to get them eternal torment, or 'karmic backlash' or whatever other crap they believe in.

Talking about believing in Karma is a fluffy, feel-good way of saying "well, whenever anything bad happens to you, that's MY revenge being met out".. it's hoping for the person who now has "bad karma" to have bad things happen to them. and really, how is that any different than just hating them and wishing for revenge? It's the same hate, the same call for vengeance, and making yourself feel good about this one person having done something that's damning them to loss, pain, etc..

People who talk about karma are the same as people who say "Well, look at how she's dressed, she was just begging to get raped, that slut".

Much better to accept that you have these emotions, and deal with them, rather than try to repress them and bottle them up inside.

sometimes yeah it happens..

i watch the news; get emotional and see that pedophile in complete denial and wish him to go in jail and get his bumbum worked on real hard. but then i get rational and think that wouldn't solve the problem of pedophilia..

personally no one ever been hateful enough to me to the point that i wish something real bad would happen to them...

i suppose when someone fuck with me i fuck with them equal measure.. on some matter i can be pretty stoic.. sometimes not and i just not wish but i can act impulsively and physically if someone would do me wrong.. yeah i think i'm more of a "doer" than a "wisher" ah!

remember me that story from grade 3 of high school... this girl.. roxanne.. she was a bad ass chick at pere marquette.. very cheap vulgar pretty looking type.. the kind that gets banged in 6th grade hanging with yo bums and stuff..

one time, after many times that she was providing.. we did a "deal" and turns out she never bring the "goods"..

we wait.. we wait.. next day we come across her and i got to her and i'm like " where's my shit?" and she's like coming 2 inch of my face "i don't have your stuff; never will..who are you?" i'm like "roxanne don't fuck w/ me blabla..."

anyhow.. she was there w/ her yo friends and i was there w/ my fucked up friends..

either i was walking away or i was jumping her and it would end up in a mega fight skateboards against knives..

i know i would have bring that girl down at the end but she seemed like a wild one and i would have end up anyway w/ yet another black eye or swollen lip..

so i just walked away from the whole thing and had to account to all my friends bc after all i was responsible for the whole shitty turn out..well that got fixed bc im a good honest friend..

but i had to cross path with her for months walking around us all proud thinking i wouldn't smack her face.

well i had to change school few times so you forward the story to another school few years later like in 5th grade...

i'm in the entrance of school smoking a cigarette and who walk out crying loudly and being all dramatic?

YES roxanne..

but wait a second,i thought, what happened to her pretty cheap ass face?

it was covered by the worst acne eveeer.

okay now.. i tend to have a bad skin.. we all do have bad day balblagirltalk but what was going on in her face was like super extreeeeeme like crazy; no words to describe it.. it was actually purulent and full of puss right there as i was looking at her..

she looked at me with such despair that i got real curious " mmm dude why ur crying?".. she's like "bouhouhou i have no friends everyone hate me bc i'm ugly i was doing a presentation in class and everybody was laughing at my skin so much that i ran out.." and i'm like... "wow" "poor you" "life's hard; better have a tough skin(no pun intended)" blabla...

but then i realized omg the bitch don't even recognized me.. " do you know who i am?" and she's like "no" " do i know you?" ... " well actually u fucked me up over money once and you walked around for months bragging about it.." * smiling&jazzhands* taaadddaaaa! "remember genevieve!?!"

and she couldn't even remember..

well at that point i concluded that she must have fucked up so many people that she can't remember and she got the skin shit bc she must abuse crystal and yeah more i look at it her teeth are fucked too..

so mmm i said "well mmmm good luck in your life.." i didn't even ask for my money back.

so in that ordeal i didn't have to do or wish anything..

i don't believe in karma really...

but if that girl was acting like she did back in the day.. i mean of course nobody would help her or be nice when she do a class presentation duh...

more % of people you fuck over = more % of people who will want to fuck you up back.

it;s more math/probabilities than a divine/karma/religious/spritual question///.

you are naive if you think otherwise... many dictators responsible of many crimes died very rich&happy and their children used this money like their own etc..

it's ridiculous to think that doing wrong will miraculously/divinely turns against you.

also it's crazy that peeps don't recall shit they did.. i recall every shit i ever did since i'm born and i remember for ever the peeps who did me wrong.. i can sometimes forgive but i never forget.

mmmm btw STEPHANE AIKIDO MACHIN STILL OWN ME HUNDREDS AFTER ALL THIS YEARS.. I THINK HE LIVEs NOW IN ST-FORTUNAT. I DON'T FORGET YOU STEPHANE AND SOPHIE Of FRACTAL CENTER MUAHHHHHAHAH GARES A VOUS SI JE VOUS CROISE... mhe what a bunch of poor loser. :)
