Quality Earbuds

 Coolness: 108765 | Well after a previous thought, I've been thinking that I should start saving to get myself a better ear-bud but I'm wondering just how much it would actually cost for that quality ; is it multiplicative or exponential? You know of a place that I could try them out to hear for myself?
I don't like loud music so much so increasing the volume to get more bass and other stuff that make music sound good isn't really something I'd consider. |

[ www.earbuddies.ca ] I wouldnt be too worries about the whole "get more bass" thing. Even with earbuds, with a decent sound system, you will be getting enough sound pressure level to compensate for loss of sensibility in highs and lows (fletcher munsen curve) |

 Coolness: 66660 | actually i remember at future shop they had a station for a few earbuds to try out, i haven't been there in a while but they were seriously awesome n high quality... like i said it's been a long ass time since i've been there but yeah, they should still have the station up... keep in mind you're looking at a few hundred just for ear buds.... |

Otherwise, if I can spend a good amount of time trying them and my current plugs won't fit into the models (even the foam one that should stretch), it would be worth it to spend a bit of money to buy a plug that fit. I wish I whould though. This was meant only for earbuds? Because making noise outside of my ears is not really an option.

 Coolness: 685550 | I know they may not be ultra-high audiophile quality or anything, but there are some skullcandy earbuds that have these little shells/slip on things that are designed to really fit into your ear and isolate sound.. I bought a pair when I had pretty much no money to spend on 'good' loud headphones and ended up being plesantly surprised at how good they sound and at how much bass they deliver.
[ ca.skullcandy.com ] For the price, the quality of them was very surprising. The sound isolation isn't as perfect as, say, something you'd get molded to your ear specifically or spend $200+ on, but for the price, if anything they can be a good 'tide you over' until you have the cash for or find exactly the type/sound/features you're looking for in a better model. The rest of the "over-ear" big headphones Skull Candy sells are total fucking garbage (major mistake I made a while back getting some) but these things, honestly, for the price, the quality of the sound is a lot more than you'd expect, and it delivers surprisingly good bass, though you might need to do a bit of EQing to achieve the best performance (I'm personally a big fan of scooped mids, and that's what I find gets these sounding the best, but I also pretty much use them just to listen to metal, industrial and hard-as-hell DnB, so scooped mids is like the best way to go for an EQ setting for those styles  ) |

| Coolness: 108765 | Screwhead (that stalking was me not copying you nick properly), I'm quite satisfied with the ones I have ATM, I'm just saving up for something 1-2 fold better and I was hoping one of you soundman & good DJs could give me a tip.
I did read up on some audiophile boards but the thing is they really don't bother about the less specialized readers so I'd have to catch up (do a research) on every single one of their post and I doubt doing so would even have me understand half of what they're saying. At least reading those boards, it gave me an idea on which brands to put my money ; I just really don't know how much they're worth, yes a technician than spend hours and hours focusing on sound details will surely have their money's worth even if the difference is quite slim, I'm wondering about the Price-Quality Ratio for an amateur user. |
