17 months? Wow, unless he spent the majority of that time sitting on the sofa and working on it 20 minutes a week, that's just sad. I've seen people pop out larger and much more complicated bucks/molds/final product/completely wired for lights and sound in a couple of weekends..
Obviously, faster always means better, too. :D
I like to take time making my props for whatever I do. Because doing it is fun. If I just wanted the final result ASAP, I'd buy it pre-made from someone else.

I think making my proton pack is the first (and possibly only) time I've ever wished I did regular "manly" things like using tools or building things before. It's such a fucking headache lol
but man when I've got a finished proton pack strapped to my back, it's gonna be so fucking worth it
