ya agreed. all kinds of people either enjoy hurting animals or are completely indifferent. that kind of cruelty is actually pretty common behaviour. I should clarify - I dont mean to say she is a psychopath as in- she is a potential Karla Homolka... nah not at all. I just mean what she is doing is psychopathic.. taking pleasure in torturing or killing a defenseless animal. it doesn't mean she would hurt people. and that goes both ways too... I knew a guy who is definitely a psychopath, and he loves animals. he would never hurt one, but he is definitely capable of hurting an innocent person. so ya like Dialect says... there are lots and lots of people who treat animals like shit and are pretty regular people.

errr.... how about no ? what the hell kind of Taliban justice is that? see, that kind of reaction is the flipside of the coin. humans see something horrible, so they want to lash out and do something equally horrible, without even thinking it through. you seriously want to see a baby get thrown in a river? really?? explain to me why an innocent baby be callously murdered because of the sins of the mother? should *you* be punished for something one of your parents did? lol. come on.

you're fucked up. Mr. Devil's Advocate here, defending this girl's actions. first off.. you're confused. anthropomorphism is, for example, when somone imagines that cats or dogs fall in love with each other, or feel pride or envy, as people do.

when people in this thread said the puppies felt fear and shock.. that is not anthropomorphism, fucko... that is a logical assessment of the reaction that any infant mammal would have, being torn from it's siblings and thrown into a river to drown.. fucking idiot. Charles Darwin published a book on this in 1872, demonstrating how humans' emotions are biologically inherited and shared with other mammals. This is why we speak of something ominous or frightening "raising the hairs on the back of our neck", or when we get goosebumps.. that is the same physiological reaction as a cat or dog bristling it's hairs in response to something frightening or upsetting.

so for you to suggest that those puppies did not experience terror or suffering is just fucking stupid. hey Databoy... when you were 2 years old, would you have wanted to be taken from your mother and hurled into a river? listen jagoff.. don't wish anything on another being that you would not want done to you. it's simple, really

Wow, recoil, you are fealing frisky today...

For some personal reason you feal the need to insult me... fucho, jagof...?

And for what? for dissagreeing with you. brilliant, specially since my posts wheren't at all directed specifically to you. But i guess you feel intitled to enforce your moral law on the internet.

Since you seem hung up on the word "anthropomorphism" here goes: "realize that the last thing that the puppies felt was fear. complete fear." by Zombienathan

Ok, fear is not a specicaly a human "emotion" but to speculate that these puppys died in fear like a "2 year old baby" is most definatly an anthropomorphism.

What do day old puppy and 2 year old baby's have in common? You are right they are both mammals... but apart from that, not much.
Those puppys where (if they where les than 2 weeks old) blind and deaf. If they where newborns, hitting the water was probably a lesser shock than entering this world. (a few hours before, their lungs where probably filled with amiotic fluid)

So drowning puppys is torture? In this context, I dissagree. What should be the fate of these puppys? leathal injection? the axe? craigslist? run like the wind...

Wild packs of dogs are a problem for those peoples, putting down puppys is the solution for them. Got an other solution for them?

I realise this is an emotional issue for you and for many, but please try keeping the personal attacks for those who have actually done you wrong.

Remember the day you where born? Yeah, me neither.
I'm feeling open minded right now..

just to add:

Anthropomorphism is wrongly apply in this case. The puppies feeling fear is not an anthropomorphic quality we magically give them. Animals do actually experience fear (among other feelings). If animals didn't have "fear" then all the preys would have succumbed to predators a long time ago.

What we are invoking in response of the girl's action is inter-species altruism. An example of inter-species altruism, [link=news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7291501.stm]dolphin saves 2 whales.

well, now you're applying something i said to something recoil or whoever said .. where's the link?

Fear is felt by every sentient being on earth. it's a 'feeling' derived from the deepest sense of survival. that's how creatures avoid death/pain/discomfort, by fearing that which seems like a threat to their well-being. and didn't someone say the puppies were 'screaming' ? (can't watch the vid myself, 'puter issues)

So, a scared animal = not anthropomorphism.

meh, don't know why you're stickin' to your guns here databoy ... point is: yes, a human's violent death is deplorable, but that does not mean that the same violent death is any less deplorable if/when an 'animal' is involved ...

anyway, +1 for being as stubborn as the rest of us :p
I'm feeling you up right now..

I can't afford to neutered my mother's dog, but I'm getting my daughter a video camera. Yes we have internet connection so you see we are not as backward as you think.

Wild dogs are numerous here, we can't afford to raise them. I need to put food on the table for my kids. Isn't the problem the solution in this case?

Fear is most definitely at the center of this debate, but not the fear experienced by day old puppys being drowned, cus quite frankly, how much fear can a puppy experience when half their senses haven't kicked in yet and they have no prior knowledge of what to fear.

I have a fealing that for many who have demonstrated visceral reactions to this vid (and to my posts), It is there own mortality and that of their loved ones, including our fury friends that is brought to mind.

Neutering their animals would be the best thing to do, but seing as Bosnia experienced a war/genocide between 1992 and 1995, i'm guessing most of their veteranarians have either left the aria or got killed. So a quick routine visit to the vet's office for a neutering might not be as simple as in Verdun.

Then again, I might be wrong...
I'm feeling open minded right now..
