This town can be so full of shit sometimes. Then when you say "NO", people call you a cheap bastard. I mean I've always been willing to lend stuff to people and they call me a cheap bastard in return when they fuck up?! Wtf?!! |

 Coolness: 2603970 | The people were willing to pay for the rental... I just have a rule that I will not rent my stuff for an outdoor event to other people. I would like my equipment to last as long as possible and the best way to do this is by having rules. These rules apply to everyone, no exceptions... I've said this since I got the first batch of new speakers in February and I'm sticking with it with the newer batch of speakers I just got last week.
For people who do indoor events certain rules apply also for instance the vehicle used to transport the equipment must be an enclosed vehicle and not exposed to the elements. If you don't like the rules, there are a lot of other people who you can rent from. Most people seem to agree with my rules. I bought the equipment so I can use it for events I throw myself any way I please. I'm really not in a rush to rent stuff out. It's a lot of work actually moving all the stuff. I've had a lot of people interested in renting the equipment. Just cause you offer me money, does not mean I will accept the transaction though... And for everyones information I do have a sound system which is available for free for free events. It's the two old Yorkville speakers which were used at the Cyber-Loft. I spent 700$ for a new amplifier for these speakers. Even with the free deal, I have the right to refuse someone. It's my stuff, not other people's things. I don't appreciate being yelled at for 3 hours when I go out because people don't agree with my rules. My equipment, my rules. |

I like to know who idiots like this are, so I can avoid having any dealings with them when I first got into DJing in Toronto I used to be really naive and always willing to help people, until I realized what self-serving pricks many of these people were. really lacking in class people used to always bug me to lend them my Pioneer 600 mixer for jams - it was state of the art at the time and I'd paid 2450.00 for it right when it came out. I like to be helpful but people take advantage of kindness. even if they did offer me cash - which of course they usually didn't - all it takes is one careless moment and a pint of beer could get dumped right onto it, there could be a scuffle and it could get knocked onto the ground, it could get stolen.. all kinds of things can go wrong when you are dealing with dodgy afterhours scene not worth it. I'm much more careful who I lend anything to now. |
