Soundcloud Integration

| Soundcloud is becoming the main website for integrating audio content anywhere now so I think that soundcloud player integration would be a logical step for [ rave.ca ] users to share music with other users. It could use similar code to the video and image tags, such as [ audio ] [ /audio ]

| No just post the OBJECT tag and the site will convert it for you to the proper audio tag since on soundcloud they often have many music things on one page so... Click SHARE then post whatever object tag you see there... It should work as long as soundcloud does not change anything on their side... |

| Well they seem to use different sites for different music...
Some have player.soundcloud . com
Some have a1.soundcloud . com
Some have other stuff probably... I will have to look into it more later... Anything which links to player.soundcloud will work... anything from a1 or others will not...
I will fix it soon... I will just email them and ask for all the links they use... Too bad they do not use a standard like most sites. |

| Why not just do like Youtube does or how Facebook has Soundcloud integrated; you just put in the link to the individual track/mix and the tag/server/script/whatever fetches the info from the page itself.. |

| I like to make my own code which processes the information... I'm one person... If at first it half works (which it does) then, figure our the differences... coding can be a two or three step process, a game of cat and mouse. |

| Oh totally, I'm not saying rip their code off, but the functionality of how they've got it done sounds like it could save you a ton of troubleshooting..
like for example you just put in the URL of the track and the script itself finds and gets the object code.. |

| no cause too many people use one url with many tracks... better to take the object code but when it leads to different results, you have to adapt to accepting all the adaptations... by default the most common is used... |

| well the "many tracks on one page" thing is when they link to the 'main' artist page, not to individual tracks.. maybe make the code just get the first object code it finds and have people learn how to link their tracks properly? It'd be a hell of a lot simpler than digging through the "Share" link themselves..
remember, most people aren't all that computer-literate.. Remember how often people couldn't get the Youtube embeding to work when you had originaly implemented it? Even if you give a step-by-step guide with pictures, 90% of the people won't know wtf to do and will fuck up and be confused.. |
