no, i'm almost sure there's something that can be done... there always is, but I personally would have to be in front of the computer to see exactly what's happened. however, if you have not re-installed (formatted) your computer for over a year, it would be recommended to start with a fresh installation of your operating system and program files. there are a lot of 'bullshit' 3rd party software that install them self on your computer and don't even know they are running or installed... take Imesh, or Kazaa for example.. if you noticed some times (i'll take Kazaa for an example) they install shit like 'savenow.exe' that runs in background, and pops up advertisements and information about you to some server.

Get a good firewall... Norton Internet Security, Black Ice, or Zone Alarm Pro are all pretty good firewalls.

good luck ! :)

after you do your back-ups of everything that you want to keep, make sure you have a your Windows CD that's bootable(easier this way). if you dont know if your CD is bootable put it in the CDRom drive and reboot with the CD in the Drive. if you see a message like hit anykey to boot via CD rom, do so, otherwize, wait for the Windows Setup to appear, and follow the instructions. in the setup you will choose NEW installation for the operating system. it will prompt you what partition you want to install it on, click on the partition that you currently have windows already installed and delete the partition. then choose to format the partition with NTFS(New Technology File System) this has more security then the old FAT and FAT32 File systems. Follow the steps throughout the setup and you should not have any problems... though, if you're still not sure how to do something i suggest to have someone with you that knows. it's easy after you've done it once.
:)
