The difference as I see it between someone on this website calling someone a fag and a television show trying to validate doing so is really a matter of how much of a stir it would cause. On here or elsewhere in life, I hear people say fag all the time, you know, newfag, macfag, "quit being a fag" etc... I don't care really when that happens. A TV show however... geez man. It's not like the gay community is going to watch the episode and then go "oh I see, so I guess we don't have to take offense to Phelps anymore, and that dude in the trucker hat who just dragged my friend off to the woods to shoot him in the head probably did so because he drives a Harley". Am I wrong to point that out? I don't feel the need to censor the world, but you do have to be sensitive when you're talking about a community. We could all say the swastika is ok again tomorrow and that Paki now refers to something else as well, and there'd still be a ton of people who wouldn't be up to date with this. They did it for the controversy, as usual, and as much as I love the show, and never miss an episode, I just found this to be immature. I'm still watching the next one, but this was a sort of forgettable one. |

Because the language evolved, and the people who were negativley targeted by the word stopped letting it affect them in a negative way and embraced it as a title! How many women are "proud" to be a bitch these days? That's the exact same thing as black people calling each other niggaz, as gay people calling themselves fags, etc.. Stop giving words the power they need to hurt, and they will stop hurting. It's happening all over, and it's happened before. "Do I look like a minority to you!?" btw since [ seriesgringas.tv ] is having troubles and almost doesn't upload anymore shows, there are still lots of torrents on eztv.it, roughly as fast as by direct download (depends on people), and same high quality releases. |
