I'm pretty certain there's a setting in Fruity to make it keep exclusive use of the soundcard when it's open.. Just been a while since I've used it so I don't remember what.. I think it's Auto Close Device..

so nobodies tried record or logic 9 yet??
i really wanna hear a review...
personally i think not including vst/au support was a big mistake for record...
i get thier take on it...
but even if you are aiming your product to bands and offer a bunch of pedal plugs...
so many ppl are already running there favs that won't be compatible...
i'd also love to hear a critque on it's audio engine, cuz rewiring sounds like over kill for a product like this...

@aprime...
no they are just idiots and want to make software aimed at other idiots...
they claim they did it because vst's take up cpu that will bog down thier lighning fast rock solid system.
i think its retarded personally...
as much as i learned starting of with reason...
i was never able to get any decent sounds out of it.
i know there is alot of guys who can make it sound great but out of the box propellerheads plugs and effects tend to sound like shit.
having not tried record i can only assume this trend transfers over???
like sure it's great to be able to record and stretch a vocal track on the fly, but how useful is it really if you can't add a decent reverb without dropping more cash on hardware???

murdock: valid ! yeah Ive never looked back since ive started using VST. I love the modular approach and the fact that third parties developper can come up with new stuff everyday without having to wait until another DAW update.

anyone knows anything about the VST 3.0 thing? im not even sure whats new about it

no clue... i haven't used vst's for a few years now...
but i assume it's just an upgrade so they can run as well as audio units (AU)???

Bahahahaha. Yeah some VST's are unstable, but people should avoid em. Logic can handle a ton of plugs third-party and built in just fine on my 2 year old computer and it runs ROCK SOLID.

Propellerheads makes music programs for people who don't want to invest time learning shit. That's fine. Their programs are good for portability (you can send off songs songs by email to your friend to do collabs), unless you use third-party sound libraries because it can't embed sounds from libraries.. Oooo fail.

Reason and Record would be worth it if they sold for $99 together, any more is just RE-diculous.

I think Fruityloops wins the easy-daw war here.

So has anyone tried Presonus's "Studio One" DAW? [ www.presonus.com ]

a friend of mine who programs sound software says that the overview looks really good, but he hasnt actually tried it yet...

he checks up on new DAWs, vsts, vstis, etc etc all the time, and never mentioned the Propellerhead one or the Logic one...

maybe because he knows i like using vsti's, and already use FL studio, or maybe its cuz this one is superior? i really don't know... do you?

looking for feedback before actually trying it out...

I dunno I checked out the video on the presonus website and aside from having psytrance as the background music it seems fairly run of the mill.

Like the work flow looks pretty simple and straightforward, but it really doesn't bring anything new to the table, it looks like a stripped down version of ableton if you ask me.
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..
