Yeah, i know there's probably another thread about this, but i just had to express my joy for having installed this lovely program for music production. it was exactly the "wind" i needed to stay fresh and motivated to produce. it's like night and day VS cuebass.. like, WOW.. it's easy to use and it sounds great PLUS it doesn't hog all my RAM..

ohh joy !! :)
I'm feeling piknic aug 16th right now..

Ableton is awesome, I just still feel so limited by things like Impulse, and I really don't like VSTs for drums (can't get a lot of them working right anyways for some reason) so once again I've gone back to Fruity..

but for automation and most of the in-built stuff, Ableton just can't be beat.. I think I'm gonna be doing my beats and loops in fruity and then exporting it all into clips to use in Ableton for the final arangement and automation..
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..

<3 me some Ableton

Fred: have you had the chance to use Drum Tracks (new drum instrument since Live 7)?

Got rid of Cubase more than a year ago and I never looked back.

I took a look at it, but I dunno, I really just don't like using a piano-roll for drum tracks, at least for the initial layout..

so i see you've joined the dark side Vinny...

but yeah agreed that Cubase is a bitch, took me like 5 years to get a solid grip on it. It's like there's just so many tiny little things you have to know. But in the end I still find it has a much more solid sound engine.
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..

yeah it's weird, I've done more stuff I like the sound of with Ableton than Fruityloops, but I always feel like I'm struggling with Ableton to get it to do what I want it to.. Impuls has waaaaaay too little slots for samples for how I'm used to working..

heh it's totally not the same at all! you can send individual tracks to a piano-roll, but you've got an old-skool drum-machine style row of "buttons" for each sample you load.. you can quickly and easily send any sample to a specific chanel, so if you want all your snares processed the same way it's as easy as dragging a number from -- to, say, 02.. Any channel can be used as a send, so if I want the hats to come through a bit with the snare processing I can just make the hats chan. use the snare one as an aux..

Much as I love ableton for live stuff and for the automation, for routing flexibility it's total fail.. I spend more time trying to figgure out how to do stuff than actually making beats.. it's always a compromise, never exactly what I want or set up how I want it..

i bought Live 8, 3 months ago and because of that im working with it not only to build liveset but for sequence and shit now.
i feel like you Clown, its refreshing!
i made 4 new tracks in the last week :)
as long as a you can give life to your ideas the sotfware doesnt matter but that one is defenetly a rebirth for me.
just for the FX ( especially EQ, Reverb, Delays... ) it worth it way more than FL thats for sure...

just use the "Battery" VST to load your samples and you can send them all to the same channel if you please, as you can send them to individual chann's as well.. :)

man fuck battery.

you have two choices..if you need envelope then use the simpler for each individual track.

or just use em as audio clips.

Since Live 7, drum integration has been pretty good I find without relying on external software.
I'm feeling yay right now..
