The Cutterhead Game....is quite easy. Simply put, in a discussion board, we share ideas and exchange points of views. We do it in a civilized manner. Well most of the time anyway. To make a case you need 3 things: evidences, arguments, and rhetoric. If we apply Cutterhead’s game though, all etiquette and unwritten rules are out the window, along with common senses. Evidence If you were to trying to prove your case, or argue your point of view, you would need to provide evidences. Now, not all evidences are good and all have various degrees of validity. Your argument can be very strong if everyone can test it out. Or it can be weak because you based your evidence on personal experience, which most likely be erroneous. I can say that the AR 15 firing 9mm has better accuracy then firing 7.62 NATO rounds. However this is purely based on experience rather than technical expertise, thus I can only convince you if I was persuasive and talking about a subject which you lack knowledge. If you apply Cutterhead’s game, you’ll be inundating the board with numerous Wiki articles, to back up the weak anecdotal evidences. If you can’t elucidate it with your own words, and post numerous links that no one bothers to read, then the point you’re trying to make fails. Just because one believes that he’s hold more savvy skills in an area, doesn’t make him more right then the next person. By failing to communicate properly your evidence, you lose the audience. Arguments While some arguments are good and some are bad, if the person you are arguing against doesn’t understand what the fuck you’re talking about, then you fail. If he doesn’t comprehend what you’re saying, it doesn’t mean you’re right or smarter. If he can’t decipher your gibberish arguments, it doesn’t mean you’re right or smarter. If you go by Cutterhead’s manner, you would go around searching the internet to support your argument or opinion, instead of learning about said subject and forming an argument or opinion. Structuring an argument in complex, illogical manner, and updating numerous times just prove that he doesn’t ponder before posting, nor can he properly organized his thoughts. Rhetoric You can have weak evidences, fairly bad arguments, but still make your case if you have great rhetoric. Rhetoric is the art of making persuasive speeches. This of course would be very hard if you’re condescending and calling people names. Conveying the message respectfully is as important as your opinion. Finally, if can’t stand the fact you’re wrong about something, if you have some sort of superior complex attitude, a narcissistic disposition… If you failed on all three counts; proving some evidence, forming your arguments, or possess even a decent amount of rhetoric… You would use your last resort, you degraded your opponent. By tarnishing someone’s reputation, i.e. calling them a Nazi or a racist slur, you might think that it nullifies their cases, no matter how good their arguments and evidences. This is a tactic widely use by politicians. Obviously this doesn’t work, nor accusing people of such and such and playing as the victim of inexistent accusations. And this is why Cutterhead’s game is easy, and why it’s a colossal failure on so many levels. No amount of childish posts or irrelevant imagery will disguised the asinine and immature behaviour.
