oh you mean the backstabbing and ego trips so prevalent in the 90's?
You can't bring back what's old 'cause back then it was new. Let it go.
Be creative, bring something new.

Rightly said, I wish to bring the music, not the style.

from what I understand the musical philosophy behind 1990's rave was to push boudries and create an ever evolving form of music...

On a historical aspect, I can see the interest of teaching people the roots of what they are listening now... but bringing it back? while we're at it, why don't we just go out and bring back barroque or dadaïsme?

the answer is simple, musical trends apply to certain social contexts, especially in electronic music these trends pass by at light speed! the social context of 1990's raves and todays is very different

if you wanna go back to 1990's I think you had better spend your efforts building a time machine

either way, I'm sending you a pm with my selection

I don't think a retro 90s rave is a great idea... too many people are sick of that format.
I also think that a lot of promoters are still playing the 90s rave theme and imo it isn't working.

I tried doing exactly what you are trying last year and I ended up throwing a party with the style, djs and talent I knew best. It worked out great in the end because I knew what I was doing. If you try to throw a party based on what other people want, you're going to have a really hard time making proper decisions and the turnout you're going to expect is going to drastically disapoint you. In fact, a party with no vision generally fails at attracting the people who made the suggestions in the first place. If you want to get people involved, do what you do best, best; promote the fuck out of it and then throw a real quality party based on your vision.

That's your best bet imo.
And you might have a hard time because house and techno play in clubs and bars all the time... you'd be better off throwing a night at Saph's :)
I'm feeling hype right now..

Yeah, but trends go in 10-year cycles, so we've still got 4 years to do dadaist music/art before it gets played out and the electro-haircuts give it sunglasses and cocaine.

I certainly understand your point rawali, I know it may sound like going back in time but it isn't my idea. I think the 90' techno music has lived on and is still being produced, I wish I could find the people that still enjoy it and want to dance to it.

yeah, but i dropped a Prodigy track (voodoo people), to open a hardcore set, a month back, and maybe 4 faces lit up, the rest of the kids looked like: wtf? needless to say, i was surprised...

playing a proper set mixing 90s shit, like underworld, prodigy, chem bros, leftfield etc. with modern day hardtechno, is something i really want to do though. maybe at the new-gazeebo sundays this summer :)

but maybe you're talking more techno 'techno', like old acid or jeff mills and stuff...? in which case, i know next to nothing :p
