No, I don't think he was a priest, but I thought the priest where doing the celibacy vow because jesus was never married, thus never had intercourses if we believe the rules impose by him and his crew :p (you have to be married to get to fuck when you are catholic no?) Men have to make vows of celibacy because of Adam and Eve; women represent temptation and the Devil. Being able to be free of sex means that you are closer to God (further away from temptation). As a religion survival technique, the priest cannot have two passions, as this would, in all logic, split his time between his religion and his love for his wife. The most devout christian branches prohibit marrying/sex because it would compete with the preachings / adoration for God. You don't want your biggest voice int he neighborhood to spend half his time fucking his wife. You want him in the Church or around it, 24/7, talking about God. |
