I always thought that the fact why it became less popular is because some Techno DJs turn to other style, not allowing any exposure to the crowd. If no one is playing Techno, why the hell the crowd would ask for it? Finding a venue to play these weekly nights would definitively rise the popularity of the style. In my opinion, Techno is the most "Neutral" style since it takes influences from every other genres. By doing this, you can please all type of crowd : you can play psy-tek for the psyheads, Hard Techno/Schranz for the Hardcore fans, deep tek(what I call exprimental tech) for the minimal fans and tribal tech for the House and commercial crowd. Did I mentionned Tech Trance? So yeah, making these nights would definitively attract people :) |
