I do apologize for the +18 policy in effect. This should not be taken personally, as I do love what you add to the vibe and I look forward to seeing you at all of the less strict events that I am involved in. You are a beautiful force of energy whose undying support of underground drum and bass events is certainly appreciated. Unfortunately as with most committee resolutions, the decision to enforce the +18 rule was arrived at organically through an extremely passionate debate that in the end was left unresolved. The final consensus was that we would arbitrarily discriminate against those persons under the age of eighteen based on a recognizable leitmotif present within the underground scene, the crowd seems to be getting younger and we have to put our foot down somewhere. Do not think for a second that I believe that once one has turned eighteen and officially become an “adult” that they are suddenly responsible. I am twenty-four and still do not consider myself an adult in the strictest sense of the word. And also do not for a second think that I believe that everyone can easily be placed within generally categories that do justice to the unique characteristics that make up them an individual. What a silly thing to suggest. The fact of the matter is that there are a few bad seeds out there that ruin it for the whole bunch and this policy is the Band-Aid solution that we have arrived at. |
