 Coolness: 145420 | i don't like any of these ideas, they all go against the free spirt of the board, like i've said before, the reason this place rocks is becauses we don't really have any rules beyond no spaming...We should never ever place sanctions on anybody for bad behavior (obsenity, racism etc) only for fucking the board up, trolls like bliss suck but if we allow him to change the board because of his bad behavior we will have lost a little bit of our freedom... |

 Coolness: 685810 | no banning, just a globaly-applied ignore once a troll has been identified by the majority of the community. People can still un-ignore him if they want, but for the sake of the quality of the board, trolls would get auto-ignored (once voted) so that people might not fall for their petty bullshit. |

The right to bear arms doesn't mean the right to use them indiscriminatley and shoot everyone around you because you feel like it.. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can stand in the middle of a ghetto screaming 'nigger' over and over at the top of your lungs and expect no one to do something about it, because it's not only blatantly offensive, but it's abusing the "freedom" you've been given.. Freedom to do something isn't carte blanche to be a fucking douche. |

It would be a bitch to code, though, 'cause idiots like pisss will go to lengths like creating fake accounts just to rile people up and make it seem like they have people that agree with them..
I'm pretty certain most people can tell the difference between the usual retarded shit that goes on, and someone who's post history is 100% dedicated to talking shit about people, with absolutely zero positive contribution to anything. For sure, part of the greatness of ravewave is that it's pretty much unmoderated, which is something pretty amazing considering it's a fairly large forum and has a ton of trafic.. But what do we do when people are blatantly exploiting the unmoderation to inconveniance everyone else's experience? Hell, if someone wanted to be a real dick, they could post up links to pirated software and then phone Noah in for allowing that to be posted on his board, and it can and WILL go down.. Just because someone felt like being a dick and abusing an unmoderated system. As bad as it sounds, I'm going to have to go with what bush said on the topic: There should be limits to freedom (in this case, freedom of speech). Posting on this forum is a privilege, not a right; noah could take it away at any point if he wanted to, and there's nothing we could do about it. What do you do when someone walks into a party in your house with dogshit on his shoes, and he refuses to take them off? And what do you do when that person gets so drunk he pukes all over the place, and then decides to piss on your bed? Do you just let him stay, because "well, I opened up my place for anyone to come over and party, it would be wrong to kick him out"? |
