If you take into account that the guy was probably on tour, sleep deprived, and hopping planes from one country to the next, then its entirely understanble how he could miss 2 fucking grams of weed in his luggage.

Dubai is a fucking scary place. I'd rather go to Afghanistan then set foot in that shithole.

boohoo. you can't use drug freely in a U.A.E., so it must be a shit hole. Great misinformation comment!

At least in Afghanistan shit is genuine, raw and real. Have you seen some of the desert landscapes of the south? Its fucking unbeleivable. Never mind that it probably has the world's best hashish and opium.

I said Dubai is a shithole, and I stand by that comment. Its full of fat, rich, hypocritical Gulf Arabs staying in uber-cheesy luxury hotels, shopping in gag-inducing malls and banging Russin hoes. Just thinking about that place makes me want to vomit all over their fucking turbans.
I'm feeling k'ed out! right now..

well then, if you want see the world through drugs, by all means, go ahead.

Never mind that instead of growing food crops for their village, the Afghan people are forced by various warlords to grow opium.
Never mind that a Afghan mother can't buy milk for her baby so instead she resort to an opium salve.

Selfish tourists who cares nothing but their own vices and drug trips, who can't even see that their own journey contributed to the poor conditions of Third World countries, are no better than sex tourists who visit for the exploitation of children.

I said that I'd rather go to Afghanistan than to Dubai, not that conditions in Afghanistan are better for the locals, which they're obviously not. And right now Afghanistan has no tourists (selfish or otherwise) so obviously tourism has nothing to do with its current ills.

When I travel in developing countries, I stay in locally-owned guesthouses, eat street food, and use local guides whenever possible, thus contributing to the grassroots economy of the host country. So please explain to me how i'm contributing to the poor conditions of third world countries, compared to someone who stays in plush hotels owned to big international hotel chains, where all the fat profits are wired directly to a bank account in Zurich while the local employees are payed peanuts.

You exalted the purity of Afghan opium and hashish. One doesn't have to visit the land, just consuming the products is enough. Am i supposed to guess that you don't do those drugs? I didn't say anything about YOU specifically contributing to the poor conditions of the 3rd world, unless you see yourself a tourist who goes for "trips". Just elucidate yourself better next time. I misunderstood your post.

And those so called rich Sheiks bastard, they have money because of oil. hmmmm... If you were a business man and your non-renewable product is running low on supply, what do you? You INVEST it. So you dislike the country because of Capitalism.

Most of the people living and working in the UAE are ex-pats; it is barely 'arab' in culture or whatever you want to call it. Basically it is an amusement park where rich oil barons find more and more ludicrous ways to spend their enormous reserves of cash.

Most of the development there seems to be very artificial and speculative.

Like many things expensive though, it is quite beautiful.
