We're talking about recording a mix here, if you fuck up with CDJ's, you can just try again, and again, and again, until you get it perfect then put it online and ACT like you did it perfect the first time. With your huge fucking egos, there's no way you'd put a faulty mix online, so for all WE know Mr Host One, you've been trying to mix since last tuesday and are just stalling for time, cause you can't get it. I'm not saying you are, but you have to accept the possibility to everyone in here and realize that whether you're using Ableton, CDJ's turntables or Final Scratch, you're all cheaters in the end because unless you got it down the first time NP, AND you can prove it, this argument is over. So that really nullifies any question of being able to prove talent somehow magically in this thread. Secondly, it takes work to line up tracks in Ableton, and KNOWING how to use Ableton in the first place is a skill, no? Beyond that, to beatmatch and mix tracks you're not used to playing is gonna be hard no matter how you are doing it. At least he put the effort into this and saying he 'cheated' is total bullshit, because no matter how he did it, he mixed those tracks. There's NO such thing as cheating in a game with no rules. It's like war, you sneak up behind someone and shoot them in the back and they yell "YOU CHEATED". BULLSHIT, they got pwnd, point final! back to music, I don't give a fuck if you're 6 people all sharing tricks behind decks vs one amazing DJ behind his decks, which ever mix is better is better. The method DOES NOT MATTER in this case. Next time specify NO ABLETON and then you can complain. |

The mix wasnt done in Ableton I just used the waves l2 on a few of the tracks to fatten up the wav form a bit beforehand then once I was done recording in soundforge I stuck a light compression on the whole thing.. Either way Host sure ducked out of this one like a pro.. you know what.. fukkit. youre a real winner. nice goin' kid ;) |

Kalan does know how to mix drum&bass, and has experience in it Kalan does know how to mix music with turntables too , and has experience in it so dont struggle on this too much Host One would totally be able to mix psytrance if needed, on cdj's OR turntables, and u psytrance specialists would probably be satisfied with the mixes lenght and the structures respected and all that ... only thing is ..Alex you just wouldnt have fun doin' it and u know, and i know .. while Kalan enjoys mixing d&b at times .. so y'allz, do what the fuck you gotta do to have fun, but dont spend no time anywhere where there aint no fun if you're not forced to... |

Screwhead is the perfect example to prove you wrong, he makes awesome mixes in Ableton, so who the fuck cares how he made them, they're GOOD. Get over yourself and you're known ways of mixing, there ARE other ways out there that are just as good if not better, just because you don't like/use them, doesn't mean they suck. I don't care if you're fucking kicking a tree and scratching your zipper on a metal spatula if the end result sounds good. On a small system, mp3's are MORE than adequate and saying otherwise is just uninformed. Them being illegal in Italy says more about Italian inbreading than music quality. Don't take your anger for having to spend money on records out on those of us who make use of logic to decide what medium we use. I personaly often get praise for my PSYTRANCE sets that I spin using CDJs using mostly cds burnt with wav's from mp3s. Is it the best way? nope, but the end result probably sounds a shitload better than your crackling vinyls. |

I didnt set up shit in ableton.. by mapping I meant took some notes on what to do and where and where to start shit when mixing the tunes together etc after much trial and error with cdj's... mapping means taking notes of what works and what doesnt you fucking toaster moose. Its just how I do things.. especially with music I dont know and limited time to get to know it.
