I'm feeling deadfunkish x 100000 right now..

What I hate about SPCA is that they paint you " unsuitable to own a pet " as soon as you walk in and you have to " convince " them that you are. So you are the bad guy first and you have to work your way to become the good guy. If you are convincing enough.

I do understand that this process is to avoid people from getting a pet there and returning them after a few days for vsrious reasons, most of them stupid. What I don't understand is that for every pet that gets adopted daily, 10 abandoned ones come in the backdoor. And get euthanised because they don't get adopted.

Is that really what a " humane society " should be doing ?

Like you guys are saying, if you throw a big enough amount of cash on the table, you can post bail to a fucking mass murderer or a pedophile but you almost need a dna or drug test to adopt a puppy that's just begging to get out of that goddamned cage it's been in for months and start running free in my backyard and at the dog park.

You can't avoid abuse in some cases but shit, we should stop having babies adopted as well while we are at it. JUST IN CASE. These pets need families as much as orphans do, for Chrissakes.

me and a friend were once kicked out of the spca by a guy with voice box because my friend tried to touch a kitty through it's cage. he really wanted that cat too. we were pretty pissed about it at first, but then we thought it was hilarious to get attitude from a guy with a robot voice

it's a little shocking to hear this
personally I'm a supporter of animal rights

I don't know much about the SPCA and their policies and it sucks their turned down Regimental like that.
maybe they have a stressful and hard time voicing their stance and policies.

I do think that every single pet should be castrated and our government should work harder to stop pet farm opperations.
I'm 100% against pet shops cause the business doesn't go through enough to check the background of where these animals come from.

I also urge people not to buy any pets from those ads in the paper.

we got a pregnant cat, so that we could give it shelter and food until it gave birth, then we were going to choose a kitten of two and give the rest back. That was the deal!
the cat wasn't pregnant.

SPCA are crap ... they don't even do medical check to animals when they receive it, they put it straight in a cage with the rest, and they do the check only if someone wants to adopt it ... thus leaving the sick animals with the healthy ones for a whole week before they kill it. Talk about a good treatment uh ?

Want a better place to go ? Berger Blanc ! It might be a pain in the ass to get there, and just a bit costier since they're not a nation-wide non profit organisation with over 5 million dollars anual overflow, but at least you'll get healthy animals, and you'll stop encouraging SPCA, which kills it's animals after 7 days no matter what.

Any organisation that gets too big has to start cutting down the edge at some point ... do the world a favor and stop encouraging it's competition a bit to re-establish balance into this.

Anyone of you peeps can take a few hours of your time and volunteer, then you might actually have a word to say in the procedure.

I still honestly think it is at least better than just leaving all animals alone in the streets, probably being killed anyways by cars or drunken/stupid teenagers at night.

When it sucks, do something.
