 Coolness: 148990 | due to booking concerns and the local market, Level 4 have officially decided to present the 6th annual springtime sip n'quip this year on SUNDAY MAY 20th. 10pm-7am. Note that Monday is Victoria Day, a national holiday for all Canadians.
ANIMAL FARM will feature two rooms of cutting edge music featuring visuals and sound from the city's best and the Level 4 Productions family. We'd like to thank everyone in advance for all their past support, and for continually allowing Level 4 to run thematically amok in our ongoing quest to fly closer to the truth, perhaps blinding ourselves irreparably in the process. After the Revolution, he begins to gradually build up his power, using puppies he raised to be vicious dogs as his de facto secret police. After driving Snowball off the farm, Napoleon usurps full power, using false propaganda from Squealer and threats and intimidation from the dogs to keep the other animals in line. Among other things he gradually changes the Commandments (such as removing restrictions on alcohol and allowing the killing of other animals under certain conditions) to allow himself priveliges and justify his dictatorial rule. By the end of the book Napoleon and his fellow pigs have learned to walk upright and started to behave similar to humans. Orwell modeled him after Joseph Stalin, while giving him the name of the French military leader Napoleon, both of whom set up dictatorship whose repression and despotism was similar or worse than the governments which they supplanted. |
