| changed radeon driver from microsoft defaults to ati catalyst and everything seems to be working fine... I cant understand what my graphic card has to do with running ableton but... thanks guys!
Bad video card drivers can mess everything up. It's possible the "built in" drivers in XP don't have acceleration, which could cause a lot of the choppiness problems you mentioned. |

| well thing is, if I want more ram, I need bars of more than 128 cuz my three slots are already full (one 256 and two 128)... and I remind you all that its stupid sdram... if anyone has anything, it will be greatly appreceated though |

| you need a new motherboard if you wanna use ddr or ddr2...
but yeah pick through ppl's trash a little more and maybe you can find a few more 256 chips... |

| different slot does not make it not sdram! the higher quality ram has more little connectors on it... so they use different slots so you don't mess up... |

| yeah thats what I thought... I used to know the architechtural differences between sd and dd but... meh... my electronics classes are far away... and burried under a whole lot of hard liquor
