you ever think of the future? how they will probably say the same things about us, like how we 'believed' we had to use technology to communicate when all we had to do was as simple as telepathy? (or any other example, i don't know how future will be...)
science is full of people with a good will, but they don't represent the ultimate truth, they just don't know better than what they say...

Of course they don't, why would they say something they don't know better about? Oh right, like
"you ever think of the future? how they will probably say the same things about us, like how we 'believed' we had to use technology to communicate when all we had to do was as simple as telepathy?"

telepathy, fairies... what next girl!?! you've read WAY too much fiction I think...
There most certainly ARE ultimate truths and all of them lie in science thusfar(math, physics, etc.)... psychology is the search for truth and says that although it is extremely important to continue questioning and testing ourselves and all that around us, it is equally as important to live by the truths we think are true now. It doesn't do any good to question things to the point that it gets in the way of our current lives. That would be insane. like, clinically...

'and all of them lies in science so far'
nuh-huh. think again. science won't give you happiness. only an answer lifting a thousand more questions. never touching the very meaning of life. never touching the absolute.
i think there is no 'truth' as to what science is looking for. only a million different ways to percieve and explain reality. and no matter how many questions they find answers to, reality always remains in the realm of the unexplainable.

lol you wanna know what next? how about healing with your hands? or tuning into the infinite energy of the earth core? if you believe, it is possible. i do it all the time. ;)

dna and the origins of knowledge, by jeremy narby.
they had no science in the amazonian forests, but they took these sacred vines called ayahuasca. those vines naturally grow in the shape of a double-helix, like snakes entertwining, like dna. they said the medicine connected them to the origins of life. they said the plants talked to them in metaphors, just in the same way we explain dna. anyways, i really recommend you read this book.

namaste: the meaning of life is to reproduce. we exist because we were created by the act of reproduction and the only way to continue the cycle is to reproduce... if you're talking about something else, then everyone finds their own meaning sooner or later, some don't I suppose... sometimes it's good to stop asking questions and just enjoy yourself...

science inevitably is looking for 'le theory du tout', in essence a formula that predicts the future and explains the past and present... if we were to find it, we'd find that life has no meaning, that the universe exists... 'point finale'
discussion perpetuates itself, society grows and kills itself because you're right, there are a thousand truths, every perspective has it blessing and hate and love and meaning and whatever else. I believe in being a positive influence and being everyone else's happyness because what goes around comes around... if I help someone, someone will help me... that help will inevitably change but it's help all the same...
I always try to smile is'all.

"Yur pretty closed minded and judgemental, or is it just me?"

Adding "or is it just me?" doesn't really make that a question... you're 'judging' me with that statement. I find that funny is'all. Poor inferior minds... *sigh*

Shit I'm in such a bitch tonight, I'd probably argue that modern science IS magic to the common man, I tried to explain some of my questions on quantum physics and atomic theory on the week end and he started throughing insults about how logical I was and how I'd done to many drugs, I tried to explain that my drug use has little to do with atomic theory, but for him it's fantasy or "magic" to think even that molecules are mostly air, not very advanced for a self confessed rationalist.
BTW can anyone explain to me scientificaly why my hand doesn't pass through the table? (both being more nothing than something)

It's about density and eletrocmagnetic forces on the quantum scale. If you left your hand on the table for a billion years, and somehow you could avoid degradation of the two objects, your hand would slowly go through the table. Everything is melting and moving around like liquid, just solids do it over thousands of years while liquids do it over second and gases do it in miliseconds.

It's kinda cool this thread turned like this but it's a shitty thread, I'm out, I hope it dies, I don't think anyone else needs to read the first 10 pages, we can talk about this else where.

And then I'd probably re read it all in an attempt to figure out how it went from drama to quantum physics.

there is an outside chance it would pass through. it's called tunneling. the chance of one single atom tunneling through something it shouldnt be able to is astronomically small, so i guess it figures that the chance of every single atom in your hand tunneling through (a concrete wall, for instance) at the same time is that much smaller.
on a side note, the probability of this happening is *roughly* equal to the probability that extra-sensory phenomena, like telepathy, DOESN'T exist. apparently there have been alot of legitimate scientific experiments going on (behind closed govt doors for the most part)since at least the 50's on ESP, and now its to the point where its not a question of whether or not it exists, but HOW....

I've read reports from the british institute of para-physical reaseach(I'm not sure of the name, It was a long time ago, bad memory)begining at the turn of the century.
I have my "theories" on how, I'm afraid to mention them because I might be told I'm clinicly insane, irational or that I've taken too many drugs, great arguments from self confessd rationalists.
I guess I couldn't resist, I luv discussions like this.
( I personally believe it has something to do with the inverted dimensions as suposed by the string theory or M theory)
