Forrest Griffin Vs Stephan Bonnar
none of those guys i'd consider my favorite but that's a fight with alot of heart in the same style if you like slugfests but not ridiculously fake okay i'm gonna start nerding it up cause conincidentally i'm downloading a shitload of events and documentaries Melvin Manhoef is the illest heavy-weight aside from Jerome Lebanner he throws the illest combos that even lightweights wished he's from Holland is first of all a K1 style muay thai guy has hold his own with K1 guys like Remy Bonjansky (also from Holland) his entrance for the last K1 Heros was as ridiculous as the Chicken Noodle Dance except you don't know if you want to laugh at him or be scared check him out! just watch how he shifts his weight from his ankles as opposed to alot of other heavyweights [ www.youtube.com ] everyone has to know Ramon Dekker also from Holland known as the first Farang (foreigner) to cut a thai with his elbows [ youtube.com ] local hero... tons of Japanese 'tomatoe cans'
they feed fighters to them so they can build them create a following among fans for peculiar athletes you can't have guys that you invest alot of money in loose Pride in particular in Japan also like to bring in Olympians so alot of Judo guys, like Pawel Nastula who's a gold medalist from Poland and this Cuban gold medalist boxer called Hector Lombard everyone wants to knock on Judo but they all adapt really well btw cause judo olympians are the best of each country so the best, from a huge pool of people who compete, often happen to be natural athletes and adapt and learn stuff really fast that's for Pride UFC is starting to get better at bringing in higher caliber fights since they're getting really popular with a few of televised shows like UFN or TUF... they're cheap asses with handing out bigger paycheques so alot of the best guys from around the world dont really want to go there since Pride is where the moneys at... and you can instantly become a star in Japan. in North America nobody knows you until recently where it's getting more exposure on Cable tv when a fighter is making a debut but even when it's their 3-4th fight in the UFC they still make like 2000-10 000$ which is shit considering you only get 2-5 fights (usually lesser cause of injuries and sanctions) a year and they gotta pay for trainers and living expenses also i find they're scouting a little harder cause they're doing like 13 shows this year compared to like 2-3 shows 2 years ago i like Ufc better just cause they'll put the best against the best faster alot of title fights but it sucks to see Tito Ortiz-Frank Shamrock fight for the millionth time

dude
i was so upset with the babalu vs fight wonder what got into babalu! chucks lidell is the man even if i hate on him the stands were probably empty cause there wasn't a Ortiz Vs Shamrock fight hahaha seriously, it's tough for them to make a really good card cause there's the diehard fans and casual fans some of the fights that are good on paper don't always have the most exciting outcome Trey the last place i trained 2 months ago was Daosawan on Mt-Royal i like that place learned alot of stuff they're more traditional the main good point about that place is that there's ALOT less people Mise À Jour » soyfunk a écrit sur Fri 1 Sep, 2006 @ 5:27pm leaving for south east asia on Sunday

Looking at : "so you wanna fight?"
you get all suprised when there's actually a good punch being landed. Otherwise it's all brawling. Pretty funny watching math teachers and plumbers go at it.

if you wanna see scrappy stuff
Lethwei or Burmese Boxing [ www.youtube.com ] it's what muay thai was probably like before the gloves and western influence take downs, downward elbows, groin kicks and headbutts are allowed i got a book on it forgot exactly what it was but if you get knocked out they revive you and you decide if you want to keep going

if you have access to the Fight Network I've seen some old IVC (Vale Tudo) events on there (Tuesdays at midnite)... haven't checked 'em out in a while - as Tues is one of the nights I train, and I like to get a good recovery sleep afterwards.
Liddell v. Sobral II was a big disappointment - but Franca v. Varner and the Diaz v. Neer fights on the undercard were good... Franca hit some solid knees and the omoplata -> armbar transition was nice... |
