dont worry we dont just eat the broken life savers...

I've also worked at the rolls department (where they do the packaging and all) and its just insane how much goes to waste... on a single shift we'd usually fill three dumpsters (and were talking about a big-assed dumpster here) full of rolls with like, one broken candy in it. Absurd shit really
I'm feeling funkey right now..

oh yeah, I worked there too. Normally I would say fuck unions up the ass but if there was ever a place in need it's them. I know a few people there who had panic attacks, I thought I would lose my mind. It was nice that you work closer to development though.

a panic attack is when you are stressed to the point of mania, it's something that only happens to a small percentage people with anxiety problems.

Everyone suffers from stress and anxiety at some point in their lives but unfortunately we don't all deal with it the same way.
I was just curious if there's an actual medical condition where people are more inclined to panic (or find stressful situations defined as average by the the majority of individuals overwhelming) due a chemical definciency or if it's simply a term used to define a stressful moment being experienced by someone who (apparently) lacks the ability to cope with, or omits to make an effort to resolve the stressful situation at hand.

Panic attacks

Symptoms:
Racing or pounding heartbeat or palpitations
Sweating
Chest pain/PVCs
Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea
Difficulty breathing (dyspnea)
Hyperventilation
Tingling or numbness in the hands, face, feet or mouth (Paresthesia)
A sudden feeling that everything around the person represents a threat. This can cause a person to either behave extremely defensively (perhaps even assuming the fetal position), or to become enraged and lash out violently.
The loss of the ability to react logically to oncoming stimuli, and the loss of cognitive ability in general. One suffering from a panic attack will often only feel the attack and will be unable to assess why they are feeling the attack or what they can do to stop the sensation.
Flushed face and chest
Chills
Dream-like sensation or perceptual distortion (derealization)
Dissociation, or the perception that one is not connected to the body or is disconnected from space and time (depersonalization)
Terror, or a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it
Vomiting
Tunnel vision
Fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing or going crazy
Fear of dying
Feeling of impending doom
Trembling or "shivering"
Crying
Heightened senses
Loud internal dialogue
Exhaustion
Vertigo
I'm feeling sleepy right now..

no no, it's a chemical condition, a side effect of several mental disorders and also of severe, medical grade phobias. People who have them are moslty very normal people though. They usually happen to people in periods, in phases they can't control where their stress will be high for unexplained reasons but they can also be set off by something if the person is already prone.

I can confidently say that I've experienced just about every arbitrary symptom on that list at some point or another, some simultaneously, others independantly, at times which I would define as being both stressful and non-stressful. One must also consider other factors involved which could influence a person's mental and physical health. Let's not forget that we're organic life forms which are governed by certain conditioning factors (ie: the overrall health of an individual, genetics, age, gender, diet , sleep patterns, etc...) which are all things which have an indirct effect on the individual being analyzed. Our emotions are often affected by many environmental conditions which we might even overlook and consider negligible (ie: temperature, humidity, lighting levels, polution, air pressure, timing, etc...) I think that if we all stoped to consider these things when experiencing the symptoms listed above we could come up with a few logical conclusions to avoid making the situation any worse:
1st: Panicking NEVER improves any situation and causes people to make irrational and impulsive decisions.
2nd: Fear is the main cause for panic and has always been mankind's biggest obstacle and most counter-productive emotion because we allow it to be.
3rd: There are many worse things than not being prepared for unpredictable situations.
3rd: Death is inevitable and should be embraced not feared.
4th: Our brains and central nervous systems have ultimate control over the rest of our biology hence a stressed out mind will induce a stressed body.
5th:...

yes but if you don't get sleep all that becomes very hard to balance out. A panic attack is not necessarily in response to something that one knows is comming or fears is comming, it is usually irrational anxiety for reasons that the person experiencing it can't figure out, likely increasing the anxiety, making the fact that you are panicing and not knowing why a reason to panic in itself which is a vicious cycle. There are theories that these seemingly random bursts of anxiety are linked to unresolved problems that the person is unaware of, like a reality they were never able to face and gave up on trying to face. Also if somoene is hallucinating weird things like men and suits comming to get them. But if you're debating whether or not its an actual disorder I would agree with you.. what I should have said is maybe not that if you have a disorder you can get panic attacks but if you get panic attacks they'll assign you a disorder.

I've had a real panic attack a few times in my life and i can tell you it is a lot more than just being really stressed. It's more like you are feeling like dying/having a psychotic breakdown. It could require being hospitalized.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)...look into it for panic, anxiety and stress and even depression. It works like a charm AND doesn't take years.

of course it's sure that it does not feel like a normal persons definition of anxiety but physically thats what it is multiplied by many times to the point where you can feel it physically inside your chest. When "emotions" start to cause physical "pain" you know you have a problem that should be resolved and that's what happens when you have a panic attack but that is not enough to make it a panic attack, you wouldn't be able to do shit on a panic attack or even really think about anything, how exactly the person acts while having it depends on the person. In short, you would KNOW if you had one.

I suppose by your definition I could say that I've experienced the attacks when I was young. Perhaps it would even be fair to say that I've experienced them more recently and have simply gotten better over time at controlling and supressing the anger and stress. Perhaps I was too intelligent for my own good as a child which caused me to stress over minimally-significant trivial things (most of which were beyond my own social control) but who knows for sure. Consequently I attempted a few counter-productive techniques of what I thought was stress/anger management. To say the least I'm actually quite ashamed of how ignorantly I acted. I was violent towards people and my environment, violent towards myself, bitter, resentful and sometimes even spiteful towards figures of authority, and even did certain things (many of which were subconscious & involuntary) to draw attention. The truth is that I tried relentlessly to forget parts of my childhood because the memories of stressful situations I had experienced would resurface and almost revive themselves completely in my current emotional state. I have since come to acknowledge that alot of people commonly react to stress in ways which are never justifed. Furthermore, these reactions should never be forgotten as they help us to understand who we are and provide us with the knowledge on how to deal with similar reoccuring situations. I've also come to understand that if you are grateful to have negative experience then you can learn from them much faster than if you deny or resent them. I think its very imptant that we all come to accept our imperfections and work towards bettering ourselves so that we can socially evolve as individuals and obtain a sense of complete enlightenment.
