"Candy ravers sometimes use the acronym PLUR (peace, love, unity and respect) as their creed or motto. The use of PLUR has lately been on the decline due to disillusionment in the scene, although its influence is still seen at most raves.

"Candy raver" is also sometimes used as a derogatory term for individuals that use drugs as if they were eating candy. Candy ravers may or may not use recreational drugs."

et...

(...) a semi-philosophical tenet of rave culture is the acronym "PLUR", for Peace, Love, Unity, Respect, focusing on the elements important to the culture. This is terminology is found particularly irritating by a large number of clubgoers, many of whom have hope it will fade away and be replaced by better marketing terminology for positive thinking. As of yet, none has emerged. This particular 'philosophy' was also central to the early rave scene in the UK.

...et lorsque les gens étiquettent automatiquement les mots "candy raver" avec de la "E" ou autres substances...tsé...

Drug use however, is not at the center of rave culture. Memeber's of the culture pride themselves in their love for electronic music, peace, respect and unity. Those who come to the party for the specific act of purchasing or consuming illegal drugs are not considered true ravers as defined by the culture, and are looked down upon and chastised. The drug use has created a negative image for the culture. Those dedicated with the spread of the music and the culture that surrounds that music are trying to move away from that negativity.

Whilst being constantly vilified by government authorities to change the public’s opinion about raves, it’s obvious some folks within the rave scene will challenge this movement by attacking (et parfois de manière très directe s'il le faut!) those who purposely promote the use of drugs in raves. Voila. You don’t need to grow a second brain to understand that. Just need a balance in it all.

In my opinion... the message of positive thinking is great in itself but... PLUR is just something that's been flashed infront of our faces and is currently blinding us from what really matters:

(clears throat)

THE MUSIC?! (for one)

Même certaines tounes ridiculisent le sujet:

Aww... yes. That feels great. Now off to more important business... I can't believe this needed to be said.

ohh! look! a cookie! =^)

Walking around the nightclub
all the people make me sick.
Dancing and having a goodtime
oh there all just full of shit.

Yeah I have to slip myself something
there's nothing else to do.
I"m in a room of posers
and you know i'm looking at you!

She's in makeup ads
She's a beauty queen
she throws up on the floor.
He's an independant filmstar
but really just a faggit whore!

The princess of bolemia
dancing with the kind of queer
all there problems twisted together
I can't help but stop and stare!

All the people dance around look at all the fools.
All the people dance around look at all the fools.
All the people dance around look at all the fools.

The dj spins some records
he think he is a musician.
The bouncers think there tough guys
but they are just big and fat.
The bartender's a slut
and the barbacks are illegal.
It makes me really wonder
why do i fit in?

It was at Bliss, in Montreal, June 1994. In an airplane hangar at some small airport outside of Montreal. St-Hubert maybe... why does your life depend on it?

hahaha ! i was sarcastic !
it's just because, unfortunatly,i think i was in the first vague of superficial ravers...i remember back in 95-96 at the lab and other place ,we wanted to be reconized, not been anonymous !more u were extravaguant, more it was good thing in the scene...i think it's sad, surtout when it's involved teenagers ...
oh ! well ! it was the begening of an other era i supose !
