that movie sucked balls. And btw, there was a hidden scene at the end that shows that xavier is not dead. and magneto still has its powers, so you can be sure there will be more and more and more xmen movies, as long as ppl are stupid enough to pay for crap like that.

-Fox Confirms X-Men 4
Despite the stupid title "X-Men: The Last Stand", Fox Head Tom Rothman has confirmed that there will indeed be an X-Men 4, and probably more after that as well. Now it's all well and good for him to say that now... but if X-Men 3 is a bomb (which we all know it won't be... even if it sucks) then those words will be quickly eaten.

So why the title "The Last Stand" then? Well, according to the good folks over at Movie Hole, Rothman offers the following explanation:

“It's the conclusion of this trilogy. These three movies work as a trilogy. These characters in this relationship, it's the culmination of that saga. It's the culmination and the resolution of those relationships laid out in the first two movies. That doesn't mean never, I would ever say never again, but I will say that this brings that saga to an end. It's quite the way the last Lord of the Rings, Return of the King, brought that trilogy to a conclusion in terms of those characters, that's what this movie does. It goes all the way back to the first one and rounds off and completes that three-part story”.
Perhaps someone should tell Rothman that the end of the Lord of the Rings was indeed actually the end of the whole series. He might have missed that part.

I personally still have major reservations about the next X-Men film... but my hope has risen over the last month. Let's hope it works out. Thus far the X-Men have been my favorite comic film franchise (yes, even more than Spider-Man) and I'd hate to see it go down the toilet.....

hopefully apocolyps now that angels/archangels in the story

I did wait. And it makes no sense whatsoever. Xavier was the most neutral man ever and in this movie, not only did he insult twice the guy he's tried to help for the last two movies but he acted vindictive and forgot all principles, going so far as to possess a comatose geezer. That isn't the normal Xavier; That's FOX' Xavier. And I don't accept it.

And hum, Rogue is human now. The only one who still has SOME powers is Magneto (because hell, he's Omega level).

This movie was just an excuse to ressemble the current M Day saga going on in the comics.

They also killed Callisto, Arclight and Psyloche, which sucks...

And Angel was in the movie for only like, five minutes.

$196 Million Worldwide, But Still No X4 Plans?
Source: Variety
May 30, 2006

Despite the fact that X-Men: The Last Stand pulled in about $196 million in just four days worldwide (it cost approximately $210 million to make), Marvel Studios' Avi Arad tells Variety that they are going to move forward with the two spin-off movies instead of X-Men 4:

A big second frame decline is thus likely. But with nearly $200 million in domestic grosses by next weekend a virtual lock, Fox execs won't be shedding too many tears.

More likely, they'll be talking to their partners at Marvel about the next step for the franchise, since "Last Stand" was supposed to be the final film in a trilogy.

"The first reaction, which we should discard, is here comes 'X-Men 4,'" said Marvel Studios topper Avi Arad. "We're working on 'Wolverine,' which is definitely a continuation, and we have a very interesting script about a young Magneto."

Dude, don't you get it.. none of them lost their powers permanently.. the whole idea is that the "cure" doesn't actually work for more than a short period of time. Rogue will get her powers back, just like magneto and mystique..

Yes, I get it. I don't want to get it, though :P

I just don't like the "everyone that's dead never really dies". Even in comics! I mean, Hawkeye is even back from the dead!

Oh crap, it means that Scott is going to come out of the forest and once again honor us with his whining. Despite the humongous potential in this character, they made him super annoying. And the only way I'd ever watch x-men 4 is if Jean, Storm and Rogue made a pajama party, but then Jean's naughty personality comes out and the movie gradually turns into porn :D!!! Oh, I know, and then Piotr shows up, and they're all like: Oh Colossus, does your wang also turn into steel? So then he's like *with russian accent*: would you like to see? So Jean is like: You hear that girls, he has superpowers...in his pants! *laughter* Oh my, and then Mikhail the brother shows up, since they never die forever, and Storm exclaims with a happy/surprised face: Ohhh, double trouble! *Big orgy to follow* Oh yeah, and Rogue is all sad since the cure worked only temporarily, so she's watching them while touching herself, and then Colossus comes over, and asks why she's all alone, and she says: I can't touch anybody, d'uuuh! So he thinks for a second, and then says: what if your powers don't work on steel? *superhero smile* So Rogue looks at him, and says: Let's try it! And it works! So Piotr becomes her permanent friend with benefits, and discovers that she's hardcore in bed, so he likes her even more. Oh yeah, and Iceman discovers he's gay...because he is. The X-Men franchise would make much more money that way.

Nu uh! She absorbs Piotr's power in the danger room. Your plot is erroneous!

I still think that Scott is lost somewhere in the forest, crawling with his eyes closed, wondering where the hell his glasses went...

haha, I'm just saying that they made so many exceptions in the movies that they could come up with pretty much anything from now on. Like the sudden resurrection of some long dead characters. And their explanation would be something like: It was actually a clone, or an impersonator, or I got teleported to a 4th dimension, and came back at the right moment.

*Cough* What?

I still have the Dark Phoenix Saga series. Dark Phoenix only becomes so after Mastermind turns her into the Black Queen, to rule the Hellfire Club. Xavier is pretty much alive... just not the X-Men's leader anymore. Scott is also alive. Magneto wasn't even there at the moment.

What the hell are you talking about?
