| yes, there are a few "pop" artists that are true artists. Linkin Park for one, are the furthest thing from pre-fabricated. Lots of people argue on Marilyn Manson being pop or goth or whatever, but either way, he is BIG in the public eye and he still does all of his own stuff (With the occaisional assistance from Trent Reznor or other artists, but mainly for colaborations)
Insane Clown Posse's last album came out #3 on the indie charts, and almost all of their albums are still on the top 100 best rap albums with almost no radio play or video promotion.
Trent Reznor/NIN, still a very popular band, against all "common sence" the next NIN album is going to be mainly JAZZ AND BLUES! That's quite far from popular oppinion from a still popular artist/band.
The "artists" that make me sick are the ones who wouldn't be ANYWHERE but a gutter if they weren't being shoved down everyone's throat on the radio and with music videos. If your good, you sell without assistance because you have tallent. If you have no tallent, you're given an image and a sound and forced onto people with non-threatening, easily digested music untill your "accepted" as being a "talented" artist. |

| on that point, i admit... the promotion that disc labels uses aren't always in order to make the artist known... it's all about selling records... something that was forgotten in the way, it's that music is an art and it's not only a game of takin someone in the street, make her record songs (modified in studio, so live performances are hishhhhhh) and then sell them... the art became a moneymaker, but the finished product is really not art everytime... it becomes shit. |
