Having more is useless if you have more than 20-40gigs of music anyway.. it's not like you could put all your music on there anyway..

On one charge... no. BUT if you've got diverse tastes, or have a craving for that one particular track, I don't like denying myself.

(Plus there's the added benefit of that fact that I could fit all my music and graphic files that get transferred to and from class on a 60.)

2-4 gigs wouldn't hold out if you wanted to grab a movie off a friend's computer either. But that's just me and my ipod habits.

put your class stuff on an ipod? but then you'd have to install the apple software on your school computer. Which you could probably not do, and if you can, your school's computer admins are morons.

if you want to transfert big files, just buy a 20gig usb drive. If you buy that+ an ipod nano it will cost less than buying the 20gig ipod.

Neo: I'm too lazy for that.

Smurf: Been doing it for two years with my pod. We use macs and school - it registers as an external drive and loads iTunes by default.

ipods show up as a usb mass storage device.. I have had no problems transfering stuff with mine as long as the computer has usb 2.0 (even used it on a usb 1 only computer before, worked but more slowly)...

Personally. I bought this:

and i love it. Its small, it has all the features a mp3 player should have, its 'cheaper' than ipods shuffles, it is a usb drive, so no need for drivers or i-fuckin-tunes, it has oled display (energy efficient), fm radio, voice recording, chrages when i transfert songs, 1gig, and yes, 1 gig is way enough. When its out of battery (12 hours), i plug it in, copy songs, and when i'm done copying, its already 1/3rd charge, if i live it another hour its full.

Also, it does not scan your computer for personnal information and does not send information back to [ apple.com ] like the shuffle, the mini or the ipod.

P.S. : I bought the american version on ebay, the canadian one was gimped, no fm radio, no voice record, usb 1.0 (wtf) and 230$ of our finest canadian dollars at la source CC, formerly known as radio scrap

Yup, when we got it at work we thought it was amazing, until we got returns for the resons you stated. Why do the Canadian versions of things gotta suck? >.
