gravity is a great venue with amazing sound, but if i wanted to go to an afterhour every weekend, i'd go to aria.

when a promoter throws an event at an over-used location, it means they're just lazy.

big ups to those who scout out new locations. pound the pavement.

are you kidding ?

the sound at gravity is horrible
I went there once. The system was so muddy.
Maybe you guys are accustomed to crap so it seems good in comparison
But ya that system sucks

We can discuss ut all we want, promoters are still gonna throw parties there.

Yeah, regarding that, I ain't seeing you looking for a new venue either. You got anything better than Gravity to propose ?
I'm tired of it too but I presume they rent for cheap. Oh I'm sure we could all throw a party at Metropolis every month if we want...it would just be 5 times more expensive minus the sound system...but hey, the venue rocks.

I guess your assumption should be : promoters are more cheap than lazy.

Gravity is not that cheap, for what it is yeah, but you can easily find something for half the price. Some people just think they can throw any old party together and make money.

well for some reason or another the gravity doesn't get bookings anymore since like july so i hope you guys are happy. there were 2 parties there recently that i booked a long time ago, now nothing.... just hope that the owner doesn't turn it into something else like he told me he was gonna do if it didn't work.... hope we can rape something else now................................ also the calendar looks pretty empty for the future......

Ah, the irony. Promoters will use and reuse a venue and call it " the perfect place to throw a party " pricewise, staffwise and locationwise, until the owner sees how often he's getting booked, raises his/her price and then promoters will bitch at them for that, calling them thieves and saying they're taking advantage of the situation...

...when I've seen my fair share of promoters trying to get away with 200% profits in a night. You know, when it's clear you're trying to make money out of the parties you throw everytime, you have to expect people around you offering this or that service to jack their prices up to get their share. And we call them un-PLUR or give some bullshit excuse like " trying to kill the scene " which I find preposterous since some promoters are doing the exact same thing to the scene but they have some magical " get out of jail " card that makes them immune to the very same accusations.

What happened to throwing a party for fun and just being happy by breaking even ? Why does party-throwing always have to be lucrative ?

By all means, I'm not generalizing, not all promoters are like that (at least, not the ones I know). I'm just saying.

i guess since 100% are wrong, that means you're wrong. but if everyone's wrong, then your "everyone's wrong" statement is wrong as well, which means not everyone is wrong.

quite a conundrum you've created..

the system at gravity is great .. and i know like jack knows that you people arent the easyest to fucking please . i mean i remember me and jack driving up and down streets durring a snow storm knocking on doors and calling places to look for venues every christmas. to have fun christmas party for people and us. i think that some dedication. what can you do when theres no venues ya know?! and no promoters of partys that you people are going to are really making any money you say the venues are being raped? i say the promoters are being raped.
gravity is something that was suposed to be fun .. letting all sorts of different generas into one afterhour space that was safe and legit . if you dont like the venue dont go but it's stupid of you to go then bitch about it then go back and bitch again. some of you people are "rapeing" the scene with your bullshit and it's fucking sickening.

sorry for the dramatics but i think it's true.

There are lots of 5-10$ loft parties... Ussually it's a small and hot place, mixed crowd, never as big as a party with good attendance.... However, often it is just "real", which can be pretty awesome. Plus you can get away with genres of music that aren't made to cater to whatever substance is in fashion at the time...

Rave scene has been dead dead dead for a long time.... People want to relive the past but it's better to look toward the future and do something new and original...
