if they could manage that, byebye msn voip is cool tho. guess theyre trying to tackle skype while at it. i'd like to see how they balance features and simplicity in this one. |

 Coolness: 159210 | Here's what I think so far. Keep in mind, it's STILL a BETA version so I'm certain half the negative stuff I'll be saying here might be dealt with in newer versions :
: It lacks a bit of customizing features. : 900k download ? That's pretty sweet. : I don't know why it has to appear in the taskbar when opened, it's already in the system tray. : The interface is pretty boring so far. : To change your screen name, you have to change it in your Gmail account settings so your outgoing e-mails sent with Gmail will bear your GT screen name. A bit impractical if you wanna keep a professional name for mail & a stupid / offensive name for GT ( although I realize if you have a few extra invites, you could just invite yourself and create a second Gmail account just for GT and get all sorts of junk and shit on this one, keeping the professional Gmail account clean ). : Barely makes a scratch on system resources ( granted, it doesn't really need to ) : Can't really customize the Contact List yet. : I genuinely despise programs who install on the C: drive by default. I try to keep C: dedicated to XP, all my programs are installed on D: and up so I hate having all sorts of shit there installed without my consent... : ...thank God it's so ridiculously small. So yeah, those are just observations so far. Again, we'll see when a real FULL version comes out. :) |

what i do wanna see is avatars though. it's nice to see a pict of who your typing to. other than that, encrypted IM is a nice change :) |

 Coolness: 92355 | There you go again, always tryin to make it look like peeps don't have a choice. Messenger doesn't come with windows you have to download it. I chose messenger cause everyone had it instead of ICQ, which I prefered but was too big and slow.
K, I'm gonan go ask my friend for a g-mail account.. pff gmail, jesus christ.. why coudln't they think up a cooler domain. |
