naw man

i don't think it is funny at all
I ca'nt beleive how prominent speed is in Montreal.
Where i am from , the social stigma of doing methamphetamine is so negative that people tend to generally stay clear and the ones that do do it are usually addicts that are at home scrapping their floors for a new hit. People at this party were almost waving flags saying " i'm on speed " . Kind of sucks being in a room full of people that will probably be stealing my TV in a couple months.

Gravity 2 was my first and probably last event in Montreal.

I think it's funny that you're calling other people crackheads when you don't even know what the name of the party you were at is.

i think that some people should learn that.. some promotion crew are working on specific style of musik... My production is promoting harddance in mtl.. like IDJ is promoting Drum n Bass, Jungle,etc.. and Synergy Hardcore& TranceEnergy..At worst.. it's so simple... you should learn how to read on flyers where it's said.. DJNAME, AFFILIATE, STYLE! than you won't have to be bitchy about parties and everyone will be happy

It is not so much the fact that people are doing drugs that bothers me so much but more so the fact that everyone is doing speed.

I have yet to meet a " recreational speed user " . The level of sketchyness attributed with drugs like meth are so paramount that it is almost impossible to have a sustainable scene that is'nt completely rampant with tweaking speed zombies.

I do think certain BPMs are more geared to certain drug users in the sense that dancing to something that is 155bpm is almost impossible unless you have the energy of a 15 year old or you just railed a couple lines of speed. I can't prove this in any way but knowing how long i can keep up with music that is going 155 makes me wonder how people can do that for hours upon end .

to be completely fair ,

You should of specified that all the hard trance that was going to be played at your event would be at played at 8+ and you should of also specified that anyone not on speed probably won't have a good time.

now honestly , i won't expect you to put this on your flyer so you really should'nt expect me not to complain.

As far as the party , i can't really complain. I mean how can you really complain about something that was only 15 $ . I just wish the promoter put more into the event makign the event a little more costly thus healping avoid the typical drug junkies the cheap events seem to attrack. Making it alot more fun for the people that occasionally go to events who can spend a little more on the few events they might go to in a year.

oh my freaking jesus are you ignorant.

1) You have no idea what you're talking about in regards to drugs

2) You have no idea what you're talking about in regards to music

3) Your logic about catering to people who don't go to parties has to be the most retarded thing I've ever heard in my life.

1. naturally i do not have the same extensive first hand knowledge about drugs you most likely have but then again out of the 2 of us , i'm most likely the only one that has'nt sold their parents presriptions for another hit.

2. I am a classically trained musician. I am enrolled in the music faculty at mcill. I am a published producer.

3. Catering to a crowd that raves every weekend is not sustainable. Drug addicts cannot go on for ever. Once the sketchyness reaches a certain level, the addicts all end up dead or in rehab, and everyone else leaves because the scene was so fucking disgusting. Throwing events that obviously encourage drug use at a really cheap price attracts drug friends like a honey ham attracts Operah. I have seen many scenes go thru this transition. It is obvious that they probably teach a course on rave economics at UQAM.

so maybe you could

SHUT THE F&@CK UP

1. So let me get this straight, you're making sweeping statements about drugs when you admit to not knowing anything about them? Lets ignore the fact that most people tend to cite drug knowledge from accredited sources and not personal bias. I don't know where you get this idea that speed is instantly addictive (it's not) or that there's no such thing as recreational drug users (there are). Maybe you live in a world of absolutes but the majority of us don't. Feel free to move to the US, you'll fit in better there.

2. That doesn't say anything, i'm sure there are people with much more impressive resumes than yours who have no idea what they're talking about when they decide to Hard Dance. If you were at the event for the music (like most of the 'speed zombies' were), maybe you'd know a bit more about who was playing and what to expect as far as styles of music. If you'd taken two seconds to check out some Phil York productions, you could have saved yourself 15 bucks and us the headache of listening to you.

3. Again, you're showing that you're too busy being up on your high horse to consider anything other than the idea that if someone enjoys 150+ BPM music they must be a drug addict. And cheap events encourage drug use? I've been to all prices of parties and if anything I'd say more expensive events like Swirl attract drug fiends - or at least people who care less for the music than they do for getting high with 10,000 other people.

Events like Energyze 2 are for a small group of people who love hard dance - it was advertised that way and anyone who took two seconds to learn anything about any of the djs or even just the styles of music listed on the flyer would know what to expect. I won't get into an argument about drug use in the rave scene because it's useless - but suffice to say your vision of rave zombies all ending up dead or in rehab is bunk and doesn't exist.

see i disagree

If the people that go to these events were really that into hard dance , they would of felt cheated when most of the hard trance djs played songs that were being canned 6 months ago. As well if the people at this event were so into the music , the 50% sitting down would of probably of been dancing. Of course maybe the reason they were sitting down was because unlike the ones dancing , they had not reached their speed induced apex yet. I don't know . All i know is that the crowd at this event was the most sketchy fucked up crowd i have ever had the chance to witness. If these people were all about the music , they would not spend more on the actual drugs they consumed that night than the actual event itself.

defend it all you want. I have long ago learned djs and promoters like yourself will probably go to any end no matter how many lives are damaged in the process to keep getting their ego strokes.

and there is a big difference between hard dance , and hard dance played at + 8. The later one being the soundtrack theme to tweaking speed freaks.

I love how every time we get a new user these days, they just seem to spend an amazing amout of time hating and arguing and pissing everyone off for what either seems to be 1:just the sake of being a dick or 2: their really just as fucking stupid as they sound in their posts.

madforbrad.. the thing is.. Harddance is harddance.. no matter what the speed is.. tracks canned 6 month ago? hmm if you even knew that Nick Rowland & Phil York are some of the hottest hardance producers in the harddance scene (don't think you ever heard some of the tracks they played cause they where made recently).... but seems not.. so maybe instead of giving some non reliable argument and say some stuff you just don't even know about.. you should indeed go into the bitching and complaining forum.... this is where you seem to belong...
btw i like lots of other style.. the second room was made to promote some other music style to the ravers that usually only listen to 155+ musik...

i hardly call having an informed opinion about something that bothered them "being a dick". And for someone that seems to be quite the expert on intelligence , you don't seem to have a very good grasp on simple grammar like when you should use " their " and when you should use "the're"

i think you sound stupid. But i'l still give you a chance!
