Why Do You Think Ppl Use Drugs?

Considering the forum we're in, it's hard to avoid drug use. I mean, come on! When you start going to raves it's hard to not to pop a speed every once in awhile, or not to take some type of drug, periode. Sure some don't give in so easily, but like Heather said, not all are as strong as others.
Like Nueromyth posted earlier, "I do it for fun...duhh." I started the same way. Eventually, without even realizing it, drugs become a huge part of my life. At a point, it seemed as though the idea of having fun without drugs was unfathomable and taking a speed or MDMDA, or a bump of coke was natural when I went out to raves, parties and even bars. Of course, the withdrawl symptoms and incessant need to take more eventually kicked in, and before I knew it, the idea of not taking drugs seemed impossible. I couldn't go a night without calling up my dealer for a quater, or pass a weekend without popping at least one speed, because I felt empty and lifeless without it. I just want to say, YES, it is possible for people to kick these habits, but it can be FUCKING HARD for some people too. I myself am trying my best to get off taking pills and coke on a more than regular basis, and to be honest, it's not going so well. What is the cure? What is the anit-drug? Fuck if I know... All that I can say is the best way to quit drugs is to not do them at all. How? Well that's the real question, isn't it? Sure we use drugs to escape and forget about the harsher things and problems in our lives, but drug use doesn't help us in the least when it comes to trying make ourselves feel better in the grand scheme of things. How many people on this thread have said: "I do this to forget" "I do this to have fun"... Only for that same fun to rot our souls, and for those problems to amplify ten-fold? Drugs have made my life my life better in ways that I can't explain. However, drugs have also made my life harder than it actually had to be. Part of me encourages others to experience the altered-perceptions that amphetamines, mushrooms, cocain, MDMA and Mescaline, etc., and whatever else the drugs have to offer. But I also implore for everyone to be safe, and try to avoid as much as possible the possbibilty of getting an addiction... Because getting over drugs, is harder than getting over the problems you tried to get rid of by using them (for those who try to escape), and for those who do it for fun, you can asure yourself, only problems will follow (if you do them out of moderation). Because now after three-years of heavy drug use, I envy those those that are drug free, and enjoy their lives to the fullest. I admire those who are strong enough to resist the temptation of taking that extra bump or buying that ten-dollar speed. I wish I didn't think of my next line, or the next party I went to so I could get high, because I am addicted to Drugs... No matter which one it is, because theya re all the same. Well... those are my two cents on drugs. Hope it made sense, and I hope it provides perspective to those who haven't experienced an addiction with Amphetamines or Cocain. P.S: I know this post is very long... But getting out of drugs and being on drugs all the time right now is the hardest part of my life, and though it is not my place really to say this what-so-ever. but... Neuromyth, I remember talking to you about Drugs at Electronic High, and you were telling me that you haven't done that many because you've only been to a few parties. But i'll tell you, I didn't go to to many raves when I was your age, and trust me, I DID end up going to more raves and I did do more drugs... But I know you're a good kid, and your smart too, and young... I just want to say (and this goes out to anyone who has just started taking pills or "hard-drugs"), be careful, because before you know it, you can end up just like all the other strugling addicts out there... all because you wanted to have fun. |

People who do drugs are lost souls that need to find God instead. Read the good Book, Jesus is the way. Religion is a drug too. And it probably got more people killed than cocaine did. But God is cheaper than cocaine. |

Sometimes I ask myself "what the fuck are those people standing in metro stations for hours handing out these magazines thinking!?" And don't even get me started on Mormons. But at the same time don't bash peoples belife in God. Because I for one would get offended (i'm sure you don't care but...) Many people have found an escape through some form of Dogma, whatever it may be, the point is that they are mentally healthy, and happy.... and in this case, I suppose Drug Free. I've heard, been told, seen with my own eyes, people who have turned their lives around over religion -in a very positive way. So all the power to them I say. |

i haven't really read any of the thread so i dunno if its still on topic or if someone has already said my point of view, but anyway....
generally speaking, I would say the vast majority of people who do drugs could be because they lack something significant enough in their lives and feel as though drugs may either substitute, replace, or gratify whatever it is they lack. Also, that whatever it is they lack, that they lack it significantly enough that they need immediate self gratification. |

i used to use drugs b/c when i entered this scene - it was the norm and didn't think twice about it. reality for me really sucked b/c i had a crappy ass job, no future and clubbing and being high made me really happy.
it is individual reasons why people start to use drugs and keep using them, my roommate keeps using them b/c he has an addictive personality and really likes it so he's going to keep doing it. my best friend did it b/c she enjoyed the scene to and couldn't stop going out, she even started to rip people off. i also think that its up to the individual to decide when enuf is enuf, sometimes it's too late and sometimes they just dabble in it for a few yrs. i don't know if drug problems r curable cuz they fuck with ur head a lot, but the person theirself has to realise they need to stop on their own not for anyone else. |
