[ Tokyo.com ] calm down dood.. :)

Its really sad to see that people are still shooting themselves.. And it does suck that the guy is dead... but who know's why they killed him?? Like Ian just stated, it was premeditated, so there must have been some hate involved..

maybe im wrong.. who cares really.. :) its just an opinion.. :)

PEACE! RIP

For Pantera beiing pro-withe...

I don't know for the whole band, but for sure the singer, Phil Anselmo, was pretty good at making long and useless racist comments in shows. He almost broke a fight with one of his bodyguards because he was black, in a show in montreal at l'auditorium de Verdun in somethings like '97 or '98. He's been kown for such behaviors, but I would not say this stupidity extended to the other members...

Dimebag was indeed a great guitarist...

He has been banned from amateur guitarist contest in Texas when he was young because he always won!

People don't kill people...guns do.

Now there's an idiotic statement if I ever heard one.

Americans are fu**ing paranoid about protecting their country against outside terrorists when they really should be paranoid about all their equally paranoid next door neighbours with gun collections.

You'd like to think they'd be smart enough to have metal detectors at shows nowadays but no.

They're too busy thinking of ways to protect themselves from anything that would come from OUTSIDE of their flawless " land of freedom " then to cast a hard look on themselves and figure out
that they'd be better off finding ways to protect themselves from themselves instead.

Ah. God bless America, the land of the free but not so smart.

holy fuck!!! the "long and useless racist comments" made by phil anselmo at that pantera show in montreal were more of a questioning of an existing double standard. in the statement that phil made at that show, he questioned the logic of why, when white people preach "white power" they get looked down upon, called racist etc...and when black people front "black power", they DONT generally get called racist. is phil supporting "white power" in that statement? no. was phil condoning racism with that statement? no.
heres a quote from phil anselmo when he was in pantera:
"They don't fucking know me at all!
A racist? A white person who
hates black people? My favorite
sport is boxing, every hero of mine
is black. I can't name one white man
i am proud of! And if you really want
to get down to brass tacks, i am
French and Italian, so if that's Aryan,
you can kiss my fucking balls!"

here are the lyrics to Rise, off the Vulgar Display of Power album:

We’ve got no time to lose
Your news is old news
Hate this, hate me, hate this
Right approach for the wrong
It’s time to spread the word
Let the voice be heard
All of us, one of us, all of us
Dominate and take the motherfucking world

Mass prediction, unification
Breathing life into out lungs
Every creed and every kind
To give us depth for strength

Taught when we’re young to hate one another
It’s time to have a new reign of power
Make pride universal so no one gives in
Turn our backs on those who oppose
Then when confronted we ask them the question
That’s wrong with their mind?
What’s wrong with your mind?

(chorus) it’s time to rise

We’ve lived with past mistakes
And we’ve lived with our own
Forgive, forget forgive
Be a man, not a child
There are to tears for peace
Of the common sympathies
Educate, reinstate, educate
A thing of past
The trouble in the states

It’s time to rise
---------------------]

if i were to say: how come girls can wear shirts that say "girl power" and i cant wear a shirt that says "man power", does that statement make me a mysogynist?

Well, I'm white and I'm not pro-black ( I'm not pro anything, mind you ) but I guess if your race would have suffered years of slavery or invasion of your land, you'd tend to regroup yourself and not come up with kind words towards your opressor as well.

I dunno, I'm just saying.

It's not like Honk Kong & South Africa needed white folks and we weren't powerful and supreme enough as it is.

* glances at Bush *

Ungh. Yeah.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok!!!!! NOW i see the logic. thank you pixelized. clap clap fucking clap.
so its ok to be racist as long as its towards people who oppress others. or is it that if youre opressed, and you make racist stamements about your opressors then it isnt really racism..?

level13: yeah man you know i WOULD suggest us canadians go over and "liberate the americans" but what the fuck would we do it with? a bunch of sticks and rocks and kitchen knives? BIG UP GUN CONTROL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck

Well morphine, it's seems it all depends on interpretation...

I found those comments long and useless mainly caus it wasn't a clear and articulate speach. It was more of a series of quotes launch by a guy Hi on somethings who wanted to provoke people... than again that is how I saw it back then...

another might have seen it differently...

And 6 or 7 years later, the memory isn't too close either.

yeay youre right a fucking heavy metal show in montreal isnt the best place to question racial conundrums.
i can see how it might seem provocatory but phil anselmo is all about provocation. anyone familiar with panteras music and the crap phil talks about would clearly see he wasnt making a necessarily racist comment.
