Real Absinth is legal in Quebec. The stuff you can get at Billy Kun is the real deal, it's called Hill's Absinth and it's 14$ a glass (not pints, they prepare it with sugar and water in a small glass), while the serving is quite small, you will get fucked.
Contrary to what some poeple think, drinking Absinth straight doesn't get you as fucked up as you might think, while it is 70% alcohol, you won't get the so-called "hallucinatory" feelings etctera. That's where the preparation comes in, reffered to as "the bohemian way" it involves the sugar and stuff.
You can buy Hill's Absinth AND the fake Absinth (whatever it's called) at a few SAQ's in Montreal. The real deal costs about 85$ a bottle, and I even saw it for sale at the one on St-Laurent at Prince Arthur.

matduke...

Does it worth trying?

haha yeah! Even a bottle of versinthe fuck you up litteraly. But not like usual.
Absinthe is deeper. For myself I didnt wanted to talk or to listen, Id only wanted to look.
Example:
-Mick, on s'fume tu un joint ?
(6 minutes plus tard)
-oui mais je roule pas.

katie...

and versynthe is only like 30% absynthe is 70% I think. Its nowhere near the same.

versinthe is 45%, the saq one, absinthe vary from 60 to 80%.
depend on the brew, the distillation etc.
Its not the same at the ''impact'' scale.
Versinthe bozz you like 7/10
and absinthe like 9/10
(car on s'entend its still alcool)
Its like comparing the ''drunk-trip'' of wine V.S. Rhum... there a huge different, yeah, but it's still alcool.
personnal journal

The absinth powers could only realize into people's imagination, a mythical muse, adorned with the veil of debauchery.

Yah drank some of the fake SAQ one. Not enough to get drunk though, just a little.
It's funny, like you would drink rubbing alcool it would do the same lol

But the SAQ one won't make you hallucinate.

The halucination thing is just a story. The thing with absinthe is that the steeped wormwood has a chemical composition that's one chemical bond diffrent than THC, making it so that the "down" of the chemical, instead of making you slow and tired, stimulates the creative part of the brain, which is why poets and writers and painters all used to drink it.

And Van Gogh cut his ear off because he had tinnitus in only one ear and THAT drove him crazy enough to try cutting it off.

It's a diffrent kind of effect, kinda like MDMA and MDA, one chemical bond diffrence changes the trip around. Same with absinthe. It makes you feel "high" as if youd ingested some weed (since it's being absorbed through your stomach instead of lungs) but the "down" when it starts wearing off, instead of being a "bleh, I'm tired" kinda down, it stimulates the creative part of the brain, so if you make music, paint, write, whatever, absinthe can make you more productive.

Marilyn Manson's album, The Golden Age of Grotesque, he wrote while drinking absinthe.
Absinth
