I have mixed feelings I've seen two of his movies (roger and me, bowling for columbine) I've read one of his books (stupid white men) I don't think mike moore's "solutions" are real awnsers (example: his plan to solve the isreal/palestine conflict and his plan for northern ireland, both seriously flawed) having said that I have to admit I do like him because he brings important issues to americans attention. It's good, cause he say to americans "here this is something we should be talking about," like gun control and corruption in the government, More importantly he is telling americans"you should be thinking about things that are going on because they concern you" thats a good thing because for too long americans have not thought and there has been a stigmata against anything at all intelectualy oriented. We live in such troubled times (maybe every age feels like that) We have to stop being anti american just because its "trendy", It's good to be critical of the united states and what it does in the world but don't think for a second that gives you the right to bash americans because your just being stupid and racist. I don't think americans are stupid (i think the world does it's self a disservice by merely writting them off as country bumpkins and redneck hicks) I` do however believe powerful people strive to keep people in america from educating themselves (reading a book in the states especially if your under 20 years of age is not considered "cool") the problem with blaming everything on america is that realisticaly speaking you can't exclude the most powerful nation on earth. If we have any hope of changing things for the better America must be part of the sollution and not part of the problem. |
